AbstractDas dem Schema entsprechend hergestellte Diketon (VI) wird durch Zutropfen über einen Zeitraum von 40 h zu einer‐ Suspension von TiCl3/Zn/Cu in THF zum Tetracyclotrien (VII) im Gemisch mit dem entsprechenden Heptacyclohexaen cyclisiert; die Trennung des Produktgemisches erfolgt durch Vakuumsublimation (1H‐NMR, Dw‐Symmetrie, Molekularstruktur).

En‐diketone und der Carbonsäureester (V) können entsprechend dem Formelschemzx durch Ti(III)‐chlorid glatt zu den gesättigten Vertretern reduziert werden.
Nitro‐propan (I) reagiert mit Methylvinylketon (II) zu einem Addukt (III), das mit TiCl 3 /H 2 O zum Diketon (IV) oxidiert und hydratisiert wird.
