The crystal structures, interactions, and contacts analyses of four N-(ferrocenylalkyl)benzene-carboxamide derivatives are described as the N-(ferrocenylmethyl)benzenecarboxamide 4a, N-(ferrocenylmethyl)-2,6-difluorobenzenecarboxamide 4e, N-(ferrocenylmethyl)pentafluorobenzenecarboxamide 4f and N-(ferrocenylethyl)-4-fluorobenzenecarboxamide 5. Intermolecular amide⋯amide hydrogen-bonding interactions as 1D intermolecular chains are present in all four crystal structures, with N⋯O distances ranging from 2.819 (2) to 2.924 (3) Å. Three of the crystal structures have one molecule per asymmetric unit, except the phenyl 4a, which has Z’=2. In the structure of 4a, Fc(C-H)⋯(phenyl) and phenylC-H⋯π(C5H4) ring interactions dominate the interaction landscape, together with (1:1) face-to-face (phenyl)⋯(phenyl) and (C5H5)⋯(C5H5) ring stacked pairs (Fc = ferrocenyl moiety). In 4e, interlocking ferrocenyls, short C-H⋯(C-F) and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds are the only additional notable intermolecular interactions. In the pentafluorophenyl derivative 4f, a remarkable selection of interactions is present with interwoven 1D ferrocenyl⋯(C6F5) stacking and C-H⋯F interactions; molecules aggregate forming impressive 1D columns comprising intertwined (Fc⋯C6F5⋯)n ring stacking. In the ethyl bridged system 5, C-H⋯F and C-H⋯π (arene) contacts with (4-fluorobenzene) ring⋯ring pairs combine and stack about inversion centres. The reported para-F substituted structure REYWOU (4d) is used for comparisons with the 4a, 4e, 4f, and 5 crystal structures. In view of the rich interaction chemistry, contacts enrichment analyses of the Hirshfeld surface highlights several interesting features in all five ferrocenylalkylcarboxamide structures.
The title compound N-(2,4-difluorophenyl)-2-fluorobenzamide (Fo24) was synthesized in high yield (1.09 g; 87%) using standard synthetic procedures from the condensation reaction of 2-fluorobenzoyl chloride with 2,4-difluoroaniline. Crystals of Fo24 were grown from CH2Cl2 at room temperature. The Fo24 crystal structure was determined using single-crystal X-ray diffraction methods at 294 (1) K in space group Pn (No. 7). Fo24 is the second regular tri-fluorinated benzamide with the formula C13H8F3N1O1 to be reported and contrasts with the more common difluorinated and tetra-fluorinated analogues. In Fo24, both aromatic rings are effectively coplanar with an interplanar angle of 0.7(2)°. The central amide group plane is oriented by 23.04(18)° and 23.69(17)° from both aromatic rings, forming an intramolecular contact with an ortho-F12 atom with H1⋯F12 = 2.12(4) Å. The primary hydrogen bonds are 1D amide–amide interactions that form along the b-axis direction. In addition, weaker C-H⋯F/O interactions are noted: a R22(12) synthon involving two C-H, a N-H and two C-F groups, with C-F⋯C ring–ring stacking contacts completing the interactions.
• Molecular properties , i.e. physical and chemical properties, are affected by the functional groups attached to them. • Phosphinidines have been demonstrated to be highly effective in a variety of cases such as polymer chemistry , organic synthesis for the preparation of polyphosphanes, coordination chemistry , and more recently in catalysis as ligands in cross-coupling reactions. • Various types of metal ions and the ancillary ligands existing in the reaction determine the nature of the created products. ligands have crucial impact on the region-, chemo-, and, of course, stereoselectivity in metal- catalytic processes.
The tennimide macrocycle, (I) (C52H40N16O16.0.167H2O), was synthesized from 2-amino-4,6-dimethoxypyrimidine and pyridine-2,6-dicarbonyl dichloride. Compound (I) represents the first tennimide incorporating pyridine rings in the macrocycle scaffold. In the macrocycle ring, the carbonyl groups at each successive dicarbonyl(pyridine) moiety adopt the (syn/anti)2 conformation. This contrasts with all previously reported tetraimide macrocycles, which exhibit the (syn)4 conformation. The effect is to close any potential cavity or niche by having two of the central pyridine C5N rings aligned close to each other [with closest pyridine Cg...Cg ring centroid separations of 3.5775 (19) Å; closest C...C = 3.467 (5) Å]. A partial occupancy water molecule (with s.o.f. = 0.167), resides with its oxygen atom on a twofold axis at hydrogen-bonding distances to the carbonyl O atom, in a molecular niche between two pyridine rings. Macrocyles of (I) have all six C=O groups and all eight methoxy O atoms present on the macrocycle surface. However, all twelve N atoms are effectively shielded on steric grounds from any potential intermolecular interactions. The remaining two C=O O atoms interact with the partial occupancy water molecule via two O—H...O=C hydrogen bonds. Macrocycles of (I) stack as one-dimensional chains along the b-axis direction with primary intermolecular interactions involving weak C—H...O=C/OCH3/H2O contacts. Chains interlock weakly via methoxy–methoxy C—H...O interactions into two-dimensional sheets.
Six meta-substituted isophthalamide diesters (DxE) and pyridinedicarboxamides (PxE) are reported with spectroscopic and crystal structure analyses (D = meta-C6H4; P = meta-pyridine; xE = 2-/3-/4-ethyl ester substitution). Comparisons are made between the solid-state and minimised structures from ab initio computational calculations. The six compounds are potentially useful ligands for metal-complex coordination, spanning a range of molecular conformations. D2E adopts a planar molecular structure, as influenced by the C-H⋯O intramolecular interactions with all 34 nonhydrogen atoms within 0.1 Å of the D2E mean molecular plane. Extensive intermolecular ring⋯ring stacking arises with the shortest interplanar C⋯C of 3.372(2) Å. For D3E (Z′ = 4) and D4E, the hierarchy of intermolecular interactions is the determining factor driving the crystal structure formation with concomitant twinning, as influenced by the weaker interactions. In the pyridine-related P2E, the O1W water molecule (site occupancy = 0.441(5)) forms four hydrogen bonds, as follows: (i) O1W−H⋯O=C, (ii) O1W−H⋯π(arene) and (iii) two aromaticC−H⋯O1W. The meta- and para-substituted PxE·2(H2O) structures (x = 3 or 4) adopt open conformations with pairs of hydrogen-bonded water molecules located in molecular niches between the flanking benzamide ester groups. The Hirshfeld surface, two-dimensional fingerprint plots and contact enrichment ratio were investigated to statistically analyse the different types of intermolecular interactions.
The title compound N-(2,3-difluorophenyl)-2-fluorobenzamide or (Fo23) was obtained at high yield (88%) from the condensation reaction of 2-fluorobenzoyl chloride with 2,3-difluoroaniline using standard synthetic procedures. The crystal structure of Fo23 was determined at 294 (1) K using single crystal X-ray diffraction methods and represents the first regular tri-fluorinated benzamide with formula C13H8F3NO compared to the difluorinated and tetra-fluorinated analogues. In the structure, both aromatic rings are effectively co-planar, with an interplanar angle of 0.5(2)°; however, the central amide group plane is oriented by 23.17(18)° and 23.44(17)° from the aromatic rings as influenced by 1D amide⋯amide hydrogen bonds along the a-axis direction. Longer C-H⋯F/O interactions and the arrangement of a R22(12) synthon involving two C-F, a N-H and two C-H, together with C-F⋯C ring⋯ring stacking contacts, complete the interactions in the Fo23 crystal structure.
The synthesis and spectroscopic characterisation of six bis(5-X-pyridine-2-yl)isophthalamides (X = H, F, Br, Cl, I, NO2) are reported, together with five crystal structure analyses (for X = H, F to I). The isophthalamides span a range of conformations as syn/anti (H-DIP; I-DIP), anti/anti- (F-DIP; Br-DIP) and with both present in ratio 2:1 in Cl-DIP. The essentially isostructural F-DIP and Br-DIP molecules (using strong amide…amide interactions) aggregate into 2D molecular sheets that align with either F/H or Br atoms at the sheet surfaces (interfaces), respectively. Sheets are linked by weak C-H⋯F contacts in F-DIP and by Br⋯Br halogen bonding interactions as a ‘wall of bromines’ at the Br atom rich interfaces in Br-DIP. Cl-DIP is an unusual crystal structure incorporating both syn/anti and anti/anti molecular conformations in the asymmetric unit (Z’ = 3). The I-DIP•½(H2O) hemihydrate structure has a water molecule residing on a twofold axis between two I-DIPs and has hydrogen and N⋯I (Nc = 0.88) halogen bonding. The hydrate is central to an unusual synthon and involved in six hydrogen bonding interactions/contacts. Contact enrichment analysis on the Hirshfeld surface demonstrates that F-DIP, Cl-DIP and Br-DIP have especially over-represented halogen···halogen interactions. With the F-DIP, Cl-DIP and Br-DIP molecules having an elongated skeleton, the formation of layers of halogen atoms in planes perpendicular to the long unit cell axis occurs in the crystal packings. All six DIPs were analysed by ab initio calculations and conformational analysis; comparisons are made between their minimized structures and the five crystal structures. In addition, physicochemical properties are compared and assessed.
A 3 × 3 isomer grid of nine N-(chlorophenyl)pyridinecarboxamides (NxxCl) is reported with physicochemical studies and single crystal structures (Nx = pyridinoyl moiety; xCl = aminochlorobenzene ring; x = para-/meta-/ortho-), as synthesized by the reaction of the substituted p-/m-/o-pyridinecarbonyl chlorides (Nx) with p-/m-/o-aminochlorobenzenes (xCl). Several of the nine NxxCl crystal structures display structural similarities with their halogenated NxxX and methylated NxxM relatives (x = p-/m-/o-substitutions; X = F, Br; M = methyl). Indeed, five of the nine NxxCl crystal structures are isomorphous with their NxxBr analogues as the NpmCl/Br, NpoCl/Br, NmoCl/NmoBr, NopCl/Br, and NooCl/Br pairs. In the NxxCl series, the favored hydrogen bonding mode is aggregation by N-H···Npyridine interactions, though amide···amide intermolecular interactions are noted in NpoCl and NmoCl. For the NoxCl triad, intramolecular N-H···Npyridine interactions influence molecular planarity, whereas NppCl·H2O (as a monohydrate) exhibits O-H···O, N-H···O1W, and O1W-H···N interactions as the primary hydrogen bonding. Analysis of chlorine-containing compounds on the CSD is noted for comparisons. The interaction environments are probed using Hirshfeld surface analysis and contact enrichment studies. The melting temperatures (T m) depend on both the lattice energy and molecular symmetry (Carnelley's rule), and the melting points can be well predicted from a linear regression of the two variables. The relationships of the T m values with the total energy, the electrostatic component, and the strongest hydrogen bond components have been analyzed.
The planar title compound 4,5-dimethyl-1,3-dioxol-2-one, C5H6O3, 1, crystallizes with its mol-ecular C 2 axis coincident with a crystallographic mirror plane in space group P21/m. In the plane defined by the b axis and an ac face diagonal, anti-parallel linear strands of 1, formed by simple translation, associate to form sheets with close H⋯H and O⋯O inter-molecular contacts. Between the sheets, parallel strands of 1 place the carbonyl O atom near the five-membered ring centroid of a neighboring mol-ecule with close O⋯O and O⋯C contacts.

The title compound, C20H14I2N2O2, a di-iodo-Schiff base, crystallizes in space group Pbca with one mol-ecule per asymmetric unit. The mol-ecular structure reveals two intra-molecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds that give the mol-ecule a twisted structure with non-coplanar rings. In the crystal structure, the mol-ecular packing is stabilized by π-π stacking, hydrogen- and halogen-bonding (C-H⋯I; O⋯I) inter-actions.
Four solvates of the imide-based macrocycle (IO)(4) are reported herein as the acetone, ethanol, dimethylformamide (DMF) and dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) crystal structures (where I and O represent the isophthaloyl group and imide linker, respectively). The acetone solvate (1) or (IO)(4)center dot 0.375(CH3COCH3) contains an acetone molecule residing on a 2-fold axis with 0.75 site occupancy in the monoclinic space group C2/c. Acetone is encapsulated in lattice pockets between six (IO)(4) macrocycles, four of which are at hydrogen bonding distances. The isomorphous hemi-ethanol solvate structure (2) or (IO)(4)center dot 0.5(C2H5OH) has ethanol molecules disordered about 2-fold axes and each is effectively surrounded by six (IO)(4) macrocycles. The DMF solvate structure (3) in the monoclinic space group P2(1)/n contains two DMF molecules, one of which is disordered and present with a minor component of H2O. In contrast to solvent behaviour in (1) and (2), DMF molecules aggregate in 1D channels parallel with the (-101) plane in the (IO)(4)center dot 2(DMF)center dot 0.1(H2O) structure with DMF occupying similar to 20% of the unit cell volume. The DMSO crystal structure (4) was obtained from poorly formed, striated and cracked crystals in the monoclinic space group C2. It contains DMSO molecules with extensive disorder and with partial occupancy solvent molecules of indeterminate composition aligned in channels between (IO)(4) macrocycles. Analysis of the development of imide-based macrocycles with different substituents is commented on as well as the solvatomorphic behaviour in tennimides, together with comparisons with ab initio calculations. The title compounds, C19H12Br2N2O2 and C18H11Br2N3O2, were synthesized in good yields from condensation reactions of 3-bromo-benzoyl chloride with 2-amino-pyridine or 2-amino-pyrimidine using standard condensation reaction conditions and subsequent column chromatography.
Monohalogenated carbamates (CxxX) aggregate by N–H⋯N interactions without halogen bonding and crystallise as poor quality crystalline fibres often withZ′ > 1.
Bis-aldehyde monomers 4-(4′-formyl-phenoxy)benzaldehyde (3a), 3-methoxy-4-(4′formyl-phenoxy)benzaldehyde (3b), and 3-ethoxy-4-(4′-formyl-phenoxy)benzaldehyde (3c) were synthesized by etherification of 4-fluorobenzaldehyde (1) with 4-hydroxybenzaldehyde (2a), 3-methoxy-4-hydroxybenzaldehyde (2b), and 3-ethoxy-4-hydroxybenzaldehyde (2c), respectively. Each monomer was polymerized with p-phenylenediamine and 4,4′-diaminodiphenyl ether to yield six poly(azomethine)s. Single crystal X-ray diffraction structures of 3b and 3c were determined. The structural characterization of the monomers and poly(azomethine)s was performed by FT-IR and NMR spectroscopic techniques and elemental analysis. Physicochemical properties of polymers were investigated by powder X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), viscometry, UV–vis, spectroscopy and photoluminescence. These polymers were subjected to electrical conductivity measurements by the four-probe method, and their conductivities were found to be in the range 4.0 × 10−5 to 6.4 × 10−5 Scm−1, which was significantly higher than the values reported so far.
