The spread of additive manufacturing technologies in industry is becoming increasingly common, especially with the advancement of Industry 4.0. These technologies enable the rapid and efficient production of components, but also demand a higher level of quality from the manufactured products. Layer-by-layer construction methods result in an anisotropic material model, which complicates the sizing of components. Although the subject has been studied by many, less attention has been paid to surface anisotropy. This problem can be due to the file conversion process or the staircase effect caused by the technology. Manufacturing parameters such as layer thickness and orientation also affect surface quality. This study presents the effect of the reverse engineering step setting used during re-measurement on surface quality.
Material Extrusion (MEX), a prevalent form of additive manufacturing (AM), plays a pivotal role in creating three-dimensional objects layer by layer. Investigating MEX printing parameters is crucial, impacting mechanical properties, roughness, material usage, build time, and dimensional accuracy. This study focuses on the economic dimensions of MEX, essential for widespread technology adoption. Understanding of the economic aspects of MEX is essential for maximizing the benefits of this additive manufacturing technology. It allows for the development of efficient, cost-effective, and sustainable manufacturing practices, contributing to its widespread adoption across diverse industries. Employing the Box-Behnken Design (BBD), the research systematically evaluates total costs, amalgamating material and power costs, providing nuanced insights into MEX economic dynamics. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) uncovers the significant impact of printing parameters, with build orientation emerging as pivotal. The optimization process aligns efficiency with cost-effectiveness, validated through robust regression equations. This study, directly relevant to management and business economics, positions itself at the forefront of advancing additive manufacturing, offering practical guidance for economic and operational optimization, particularly in industries adopting MEX technology.
This study explores the optimization of ironing parameters in Material Extrusion (MEX) technology, specifically targeting improvements in the mechanical properties of polylactic acid (PLA) printed objects, with a focus on enhancing Ultimate Tensile Strength (UTS) and minimizing printing time. To achieve this, we employed a systematic experimental approach that varied flow rate, path speed, and spacing between passes, followed by a comprehensive statistical analysis using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). Our findings indicate that path speed and spacing between passes significantly influence both UTS and printing time, while flow rate has a minor effect within the tested range. Optimal parameters were determined to be a flow rate of 14.34
Az eszközök, gépek, berendezések megbontás nélküli vizsgálatának, állapotuk felmérésének lehetősége mindig is kihívást jelentett a rendszerek használói, üzemeltetői számára. Hasonlóképpen évszázados igény az emberi szervezetbe történő betekintés lehetősége annak jelentős mértékű feltárása nélkül, minimális fizikai terhelés okozásával, amely vizsgálódás során a feltárt rendellenességek esetleges orvoslása is megvalósítható. A 21. század modern képalkotó rendszerei megteremtették az élő szervezetek belső viszonyainak pontos feltárási lehetőségét (ultrahang, röntgen, CT, MR), a mérnöki gyakorlatból átvett és továbbfejlesztett beavatkozásra is alkalmas eszközök párhuzamos alkalmazásának biztosítása mellett.
A gépészeti tervezés folyamata – egyes leszűkítő értelmezésekkel ellentétben – olyan tág, rendkívül sok területre kiterjedő tevékenységek folyamata, amely eredményeként megvalósított termék számos, alkalmazási/használati területére vonatkozó ismérvet – sajátosságot – hordoz magán. A különböző tervezési technikák olyan általános elveket, módszereket, eljárásokat fogalmaznak meg, amelyek a mérnöki tevékenység valamennyi területén alkalmazhatók és a konstruktőr számára a tervezett objektumtól független ismereteket biztosítanak (angolul: object independent design). A mérnöki tevékenység tervezési szakasza a számítógépes technikák robbanásszerű fejlődése és általános alkalmazásának hatására a 2000-es évektől kezdődően jelentősen átalakult. A ma fejlettnek mondott, korszerű, numerikus szimulációs eljárások sokszor elfedik a fizikai hátteret, a tervezni kívánt alkatrész/részegység/gép-berendezés alapvető hatás-mechanizmusainak, jól, vagy rosszul megválasztott hatáshordozóinak megválasztási lehetőségeit. A mesterséges intelligencia tervezési folyamatban történő alkalmazása jelentősen rövidítheti a folyamatot, ugyanakkor képes olyan új, eddig nem alkalmazott megoldások feltárására, amelyre a hagyományos tervezési metodikák nem tudtak feltárni.
Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM) is now one of the most widely used techniques for building complicated 3D prototypes straightforwardly from an STL model. In this process, the part is fabricated as a layer-upon-layer deposition of a filamentwire. This deposition technique has numerous benefits; however, it causes rapid heating and cooling cycles of the filamentmaterial, which introduces residual stresses in the component during the building-up process. As a result of residual stresses, warping and distortions of the componentsduring the print process are common concerns in FDM parts. In the FDM process, there are many printing parameters that affect the mechanical properties of printed parts, such as printing speed, layer thickness, printing temperature, printing orientation, and infill density. Experimentally investigating these parameters is costly and time-consuming. This work employs a numerical solution to find the correlation between the residual stress and three printing parameters: printing orientation, raster angle, and infill pattern. The results showed that the printing orientation has the most significant influence on the residual stress value. The raster angle was the second important parameter, while the infill pattern did not influence the residual stress.
In recent years, additive manufacturing technologies have been increasingly used in both unique and small series production. In such cases, the component must remain functional under real-life conditions and be able to bear the load. In many cases, the materials are already suitable from a strength point of view, but sometimes (machine parts, outdoor use) the models must also operate reliably at higher temperatures. This is enabled by a new heat-tolerant material, HT PLA, in the case of the most common additive manufacturing technology (FDM). In some cases, cooling is required during production, especially for parts with large overhangs, where it is necessary to solidify the material as quickly as possible to achieve the required surface quality. In this paper, we investigated the effect of cooling on mechanical strength during the manufacturing process.
A vizsgálatot a két gyártási mód jellegzetességéből adódó tulajdonságok felhasználásával végezzük.
Laser Assisted Metal-Polymer Joining Technologies (LAMP) are widely used to create hybrid structures for different purposes. If the laser beam is transported to the connected surfaces from the polymer's side, the polymer has to be adequately transparent on the wavelength of the applied radiation to avoid degradation and to ensure effective and efficient adhesion. The transparency can be affected by the components and the structure of the polymer. The long-term goal of our research is to identify, assess and quantify the connection between the type and the amount of reinforcing fibers and the quality of metal-polymer joining. In this paper, we introduce the key findings of the first experiments aimed at joining steel and poly(methyl-methacrylate) reinforced with different amounts of cellulose fibers. We identified the optimal values of some laser technology parameters (e.g. power, velocity) that affect the strength and the visual appearance of joining.
The use of three-dimensional (3D) printing technologies is an ever-growing solution. The product realized in many cases is applicable not only for visual aid, or model, but for tool, or operating element, or as an implant for medical use. For correct calculation, a proper model that is based on the theory of elasticity is necessary. The basis of this kind of model is the knowledge of the exact material properties. The PLA filament has been used to perform this study for matrix material. Our presumption is that the different layers do not fuse completely, and they do not fill up the space available. The failures between the layers and the deposited filaments and the layer arrangement could be the reason for the direction-dependent material properties of the 3D printed objects. Based on our investigation, we can conclude that the increase of the layer thickness and printing speed adversely affect the mechanical properties of the product.
Napjainkban egy termék tervezésére szánt idő lecsökkent, a tervezés módszertana az új szoftveres lehetőségeknek köszönhetően megváltozott. A generatív tervezés egy mesterséges intelligencián alapuló tervezési módszer, mellyel a tervezési probléma meghatározásával, különböző paraméterekre való optimalizációra van lehetőség. Ennek a módszernek a használata egy drónvázon kerül bemutatásra a különböző tervezési paraméterek magyarázata mellett.
A kísérlet során számítógépes szoftver segítségével állítok elő 3D modelleket fotók alapján. A módszer rendkívül egyszerű és kézenfekvő, főleg nehezen mérhető, bonyolult geometriák esetén. A vizsgálat célja az eljárás pontosságának, gyorsaságának meghatározása, és a potenciális gyakorlati felhasználási módok feltérképezése.
A bemutatott kutatásban lézersugárral felületkezelt acél minták ball-on-disk típusú koptató vizsgálatának eredményeit mutatjuk be.
At the beginning of the research work we encountered two major problems. First, literature for laser beam machining of fibre cement is virtually zero. This fact does not exclude the research of the subject by others, of course, but it may in any case indicate its confidentiality (technological competitive advantage). Second, the exact composition of the fibre cement material is protected, but the boards we use are available from manufacturer by code number, so the experiment can be clearly reproduced. For this reasons, we have decided to use the rigid, classic Design of Experiments method. Based on our previous experience, the effect factors were chosen in the group of Laser power, Cutting velocity, Cutting gas pressure, Focal length, Laser frequency and Cutting gas type, at a total of 17 factor levels. The necessary and sufficient conditions are met by the 2-Factor-Interaction (2FI) fractional factorial experiments, instead of full factorial 6FI experiment series. Based on our very first experiments, it was found that the high-density composite fiber cement material can be cut with laser beam technology. Experiments and related visual and measurement responses clearly define the significant effect factors. The experiments proved our zero hypotheses, the "p-values", derived from the analysis of the response parameters, were below 0.05% (the significance limit usually is 0.1%), for each responses. We answered the questions of the fastest and cheapest technology lineup, to laser beam cut a composite fibre cement board to the desired size, with the expected quality. (C) 2019 Elsevier Ltd. The 3D technology nowadays is an everyday technology. Today’s applications are carried out not only for marketing and rapid prototyping aims. As individual series production or in small series these products are built into machines [1]. The cost and time of the production equipment can be saved by this technology [2]. To apply as a load-bearing element the load capability of the material must be known. To decide this fact, several numerical simulations must be carried out [3]. In case of cyclic external loading conditions dynamic stresses are developing as well. These are typical vehicle industry applications [4]. For these cases the machine parts must be designed for dynamic conditions where the material characteristics – dynamic and fatigue as well – must be known [5].
In the recent years 3D printing has become a hot topic, however it is hard to design parts without a deep understanding of the material properties. The aim of this study is to estimate the modal parameters and the damping properties via experimental dynamic analysis of a part made from PLA. We will study the effects of the different directions of printing. With the results data for the FEM software’s input can be provided.
