Chemically self-assembled FePt films were rapidly annealed at different temperatures. X-ray diffractometer and vibrating sample magnetometer were employed to investigate structure and magnetic properties respectively. The experimental results showed that the complete transformation from fcc FePt to fct FePt was achieved by rapid annealing at 850°C for 30 s. No oxidation occurred in FePt films which were rapidly annealed under relatively low vacuum.
FePt films were prepared by chemical self-assembly method. The as-prepared FePt films were subjected to vaccum annealing at different temperatures in the range of 450-650°C. The structure and magnetic properties were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and vibrating sample magnometer (VSM). The results show that the FePt films start to transform to L 10-FePt phase after annealing at temperature above 500°C. With annealing temperatures increasing, the ordering parameters S increased. For the FePt films at an annealing temperature of 600°C, the ordering parameter S was up to 0.7, and corresponding coercivity was up to 0.55T.
