ABSTRACT Objective: To determine and evaluate radiological changes in the asymmetry of the lateral atlantodental interval and atlas tilt after the application of the Atlasprofilax intervention. Methods: A radiological prospective study was conducted on patients who underwent the Atlasprofilax Method in Mexico. A total of 258 patients provided informed consent and were enrolled in the study. Group A (n=79) underwent the intervention, while Group B (n=179) served as the control group. Anteroposterior transoral radiographs were obtained for both groups. The open-mouth anteroposterior projection was selected for clear visualization of relevant structures. Results: Both groups had a very similar distribution of lateral atlantodental interval prior to the intervention. Both groups exhibited positive lateral atlantodental interval asymmetry with most values ranging from 1 mm to 2.9 mm. After the intervention in Group A, a highly significant and clear improvement was observed, with a reduction in lateral atlantodental interval asymmetry trending toward zero and enhanced orthogonality of the C1-C2 complex. Atlas tilt and the alignment of the C2 spinous process did also significantly improve. Conclusions: The Atlasprofilax intervention yielded significant improvements by decreasing lateral atlantodental interval asymmetry, correcting atlas tilt, and aligning the C2 spinous process in the treated group, both in comparison to the control group and when evaluating preand post-intervention changes. These results contribute valuable data to the ongoing debate regarding the clinical significance of lateral atlantodental interval asymmetries and underscore the need for further research to better understand their implications. Subclinical or underestimated metabolic and pathomechanic alterations in the suboccipital myofascia could lead to loss of performance in balance and proprioception. Therapeutic optimization of myofascia and its complex structures through noninvasive stimulation by mechanotransductive vibropressure could be a preliminary key factor in high-performance athletes for high-performance sport. CASE REPORT:This study was conducted with 6 athletes from the Brazilian Olympic archery team to evaluate the impact of the Atlasprofilax intervention on body balance. The results were measured using a standardized medical stabilometric platform, which assessed static balance and proprioception capacity. One athlete underwent the intervention before the entire team was tested for balance and reflexes in their archery performance. The study found that the intervened athlete showed improved balance and reflexes, as indicated by superior scores in the risk of fall assessment and fall index. The results suggest the potential for the Atlasprofilax intervention to improve body balance and proprioception in high-performance athletes. CONCLUSIONS:A single intervention using the Atlasprofilax method in 1 of 6 Olympic archers resulted in significant improvement in balance and proprioception when compared with that of the non-intervened athletes. This preliminary evidence suggests that the Atlasprofilax intervention on the suboccipital myofascia may have a positive impact on enhancing balance and performance in elite athletes by improving proprioception.

Background:The relationship between suboccipital musculature and cervical fascia abnormalities and myofascial pain syndrome in the presence of degenerative spine disease remains unclear based on current evidence. Case report:We present the case of a 46-year-old white male patient with severe chronic myofascial pain syndrome affecting his neck, thoracic and lumbar regions, left sciatica, and lower limbs, resulting in high mobility restriction.The initial MRI examinations revealed the presence of multiple degenerative discopathies.The patient underwent a single intervention of the Atlasprofilax method, which yielded remarkable results with complete remission of pain and a significant reduction in the frequency of virtually all symptoms.To assess the outcomes, various standardized measures were used, including the visual analog scale, patient global impression of change questionnaire, and three neck, thoracic, and lumbar disability questionnaires.Throughout the 9-month followup period, the patient exhibited highly positive outcomes in terms of pain reduction, symptom improvement, recurrence rate, and overall patient satisfaction.The symptoms of myofascial pain syndrome were nearly eradicated, leading to a substantial decrease in the use of painkillers with a remarkable improvement in the patient's mobility and overall quality of life. Conclusion:Further investigation is needed to explore the hypothesis that dysfunctions in the deep suboccipital musculature, deep cervical fascia, and upper cervical spine contribute to myofascial pain syndrome and degenerative spine disease.More clinical research is required to understand the role of the fascial continuum in degenerative spine disease and its impact on paravertebral muscle chains and intervertebral discs.The Atlasprofilax method, a non-invasive and conservative approach, shows promise as a potential therapeutic option in alleviating myofascial pain syndrome symptoms warranting further study.
A 7-year-old girl with diagnosed lateral mandibular deviation and other related temporomandibular joint disorders was referred for an anteroposterior x-ray examination to study a possible cervical spinal misalignment prior to the application of the Atlasprofilax method. The purpose of this radiographic examination was to assess probable improvement in her cervical spinal alignment after the application of the Atlasprofilax Method that already showed benefits in temporomandibular joint disorders and fibromyalgia in previous studies. Determination and probable improvement of Atlas and Axis tilt, lateral atlantodental asymmetry and cervical spinous processes misalignment were taken as endpoints. An x-ray examination was performed before the application of this method confirming Atlas and Axis tilt, lateral atlantodental asymmetry and cervical spinous processes misalignment from C2 to T1. The result in a posterior x-ray examination following the same radiological guidelines for anteroposterior open mouth examination determined a clear improvement in the Atlas and Axis tilt as well in the lateral atlantoodontoid interval alongside with correction of the previously misaligned vertebrae of the cervical spine. Such radiological improvements on the described structures poses the question on the benefits and clinical relevance of using specific targeted vibropressure used by the Atlasprofilax method on some key spots related to fascia and skeletal muscles. Thus, through a complex combination of mechanisms that involve mechanotransduction and cell metabolism, this clinical and non-invasive intervention could ameliorate preliminarily several ailments related to fascia and muscle skeletal disorders associated commonly with pain such temporomandibular disorders among others. Finally, it is relevant to the authors to raise awareness that it may be a gap between defining hard structures such as spine and joints asymmetries that cause pathological conditions and that can be observed by means of imaging such CT, MRI or x-ray examinations and the probable etiological underlying relationship coming from the understudied principles of fascial tensegrity. This etiology may include clinical or subclinical metabolic abnormalities in muscles, specially in the neck muscles but more specifically in the suboccipital muscles and its surrounding or inner soft tissues such as the myodural bridge.
BACKGROUND The intervertebral disc extrusion resorption has been described in the literature by various authors. It occurs in up to 75% of patients with symptomatic extruded lumbar discs. The Atlasprofilax method favors osteo-musculo-articular rehabilitation processes, mainly impacting on 2 levels: the first is the bone anatomy of the atlanto-occipital joint, and the second is the fasciae located in the cervical region. CASE REPORT A 42-year-old male patient diagnosed by MRI with dehydration of L2-L3 to L5-S1 intervertebral discs, disc bulging at L2-L3 and L3-L4, and disc extrusion at L4-L5, received a one-time neuromuscular treatment, called the Atlasprofilax method, to the suboccipital region. In a repeat MRI 6 months later, the disc extrusion at L4-L5 was totally resorbed and improvement in the L3-L4 and L4-L5 disc bulges was seen. The patient's symptoms prior to the Atlasprofilax treatment included bilateral trapezius pain, right brachialgia, constant chronic low back pain, right sciatica, gait claudication, and paresthesia and dysesthesias in the lower limbs with associated pain and numbness in the calves. These symptoms were ameliorated after the treatment. The sciatica disappeared 1 week after the treatment and did not recur. In a follow-up 5 years later, the remaining symptoms had improved even further. CONCLUSIONS We propose that alterations of the cervical musculature and deep fascia could predispose to the development of lumbar disc abnormalities. We therefore also propose that improvements in this patient, both in symptoms and in imaging findings, are due to a reduction of the asymmetric distribution of forces and elastic loading as a result of the Atlasprofilax treatment.
A 30-year-old woman with chronic shoulder pain, cervicobrachial syndrome with functional motor loss and paresthesia, carpal tunnel syndrome, tension-type headache, and temporomandibular disorders was referred for a computed tomography scan to evaluate a possible atlantoaxial rotatory subluxation and asymmetry of the lateral atlantodental interval prior to the application of the Atlasprofilax method.The same tomographic study was performed after the application of this method.Normalization of the atlantoaxial rotatory subluxation and lateral atlantodental interval was observed post-treatment, as well as substantial improvement in the patient's symptoms.Normalization of previous midline deviation and better alignment of C3-C4 spinous processes was also visualized after the application of the treatment.We also discuss the probable relationship, relevance, and implications of clinical or subclinical atlantoaxial rotatory subluxations and lateral atlantodental interval.In addition, we consider the fascia and suboccipital muscles that could be underlying abnormalities at the craniocervical junction and affecting proximal or distal regions.The effectiveness of the Atlasprofilax method as an innovative, safe, and non-invasive approach is preliminarily postulated and recommended to be the subject of further consideration and clinical studies..
Introduction: Fibromyalgia is a condition that affects up to 5% of the population and causes significant deterioration of the quality of life for the sufferer, so it is a therapeutic challenge. The objective of the present study was to describe the experience of the AtlasPROfilax® method in patients with fibromyalgia diagnosed according to the criteria of the American College of Reumatology (ACR) 2010. Methodology: A cross - sectional study with 63 patients with fibromyalgia was done. Patients were monitored two and six months after applying the AtlasPROfilax® method, in order to evaluate the pain level by visual analogue scale VAS and reevaluate ACR criteria in the follow-up appointment. Results: The average age of patients was 48.5 SD 12.6 years, 95.24% were female. 100% of patients improved pain (initial VAS of 8 vs 4 and 3 after two and six months respectively) and these were significant results. A reduction of widespread pain index as well as a reduction in the presence of symptoms such as fatigue, non-restorative sleep and cognitive disorders that are typical of fibromyalgia were also found in 46% of cases Conclusion: This study has provided evidence of the effectiveness of the neuromuscular stimulation method of the suboccipital musculature called AtlasPROfilax® in the treatment of fibromyalgia. Randomized and controlled studies are required to demonstrate the medium and long term effectiveness of this therapeutic alternative.
