Despite considerable progress in lab-on-a-chip technology, few commercial products are available. Now that commercial processing platforms are available, the stage is set for a rapid emergence of new lab-on-a-chip applications. The processing formats currently available embrace both low and high throughput analytical needs. It would be desirable for the basic toolset of microfluidic experimentation to be more widely disseminated.
