Wutai cluster of Jin group covers northern Shanxi-Shaanxi and western Inner Mongolia, featuring only one entering tone. The paper argues that the existing entering tone is the one with unvoiced initials as a result of merger,in two types:(1) the entering tone with voiced initials merged into the unvoiced one, including dialects of Lanxian,Shenchi and Suide;(2) the unvoiced one with a short tone pitch vs.the voiced one with a long tone pitch,as in Zichang; Some words with entering tone lost the glottal stop and merged into Yangping. For some dialects, the way is to merge into the tones with same or similar tone value;for others, the way is to merge into Yangping as a tone category.
Based on recent 20 years of field surveys and studies on Jin group and the situation of administrative divisions in 2004,this paper depends or renews any related issues of the B7 Jin group in Language Atlas in China(1987),and gives a new description of the phonological features of each clusters.
