A study on “constraints faced by shopkeepers while marketing organic food products in Udaipur city” was undertaken with objectives to examine practices adopted and constraints faced in marketing organic food products. The market survey was conducted in Udaipur city of Rajasthan state. The various strategy used by shopkeepers for promoting organic food products were online marketing, audio visual marketing, tele calling and sales promotion. The constraints always faced by shopkeepers in marketing organic food were irregular supply, high price of products and lack of consumer awareness with Mean Weighted Score calculated for each was 3.00.
Food consumption practice is changing worldwide among the consumers and now they want to opt food which is free from synthetic chemicals, fertilizers, and pesticides, i.e., they want to consume for organic food which is not only sustainable for health but also environment- friendly. Organic products are not so much popular among consumers because of lower productivity of organic produce by farmers, which in result lead to the high market price of organic food. There is a need to create awareness about the advantages of organic food products among people and promote its use whereas on the other hand there is the foremost need to motivate the farmers to opt for organic farming. A study on consumer perception regarding organic food may add insight to emerging organic food industry in India and worldwide. The review of related literature in the area of the organic food market and consumer perception studied has provided many insights for the study. It has also provided direction in designing the present study. A number of researchers have identified the demand of organic food products worldwide and in India. Further the various factors that influence consumer perception of organic food products have also been identified. Some studies have also been undertaken preference, knowledge, and satisfaction regarding organic food products. Having reviewed several studies and having identified the gap, the investigator felt a foremost need to undertake the present investigation.
The present study was conducted in the market of Udaipur city to know the present condition of organic food market. Data were collected with the help of structured and duly pre tested interview schedule. Result reveals that there were four main shops those were majorly selling organic food products range. The main aim for this study is to explore present market scenario and the major factors responsible for future growth of the organic food products business in Udaipur city. Since, there is a tremendous change in the last few years in our country of people consuming food habit. Now a day’s people are more aware and health conscious therefore they prompt to go for safe and healthy food products. So, this factor will surely help in flourishing the business at large scale.

To meet the demands of agriculture goods adequately and to feed the increasing population, the phenomenon of Green Revolution came into existence. Green Revolution, allowed developing countries like India to overcome continual food scarcity by producing more food and other agricultural products by using high-yielding varieties of seeds, modifying farm equipment, and substantially increasing use of chemical fertilizers. For an optimum production of agriculture produce and to feed the growing population, application of chemical fertilizers and pesticides has become necessary. Such type of agriculture practices allowed growth and sustainability of food grains but at the same time have the major impact on the environment and human health. This article provides a sketch of effects of chemical fertilizers and pesticides on human health and environment.
The advancement of technology and development in agriculture has enabled our country to provide food security. But every coin has two sides; this all advancement in agriculture has directed to imbalance our ecosystem. Under such condition, serious concerns have been expressed regarding the use of heavy chemicals, pesticides and fertilizers in agriculture in terms of their negative impact on the human health and the environment. The phenomenon of ‘Organic Agriculture’ is the only solution to nurture the land and to regenerate the soil by going back to our traditional method of farming i.e., free from chemicals, pesticides and fertilizers. This is a possible step for sustainable development by choosing not to use chemicals, synthetic materials, pesticides and growth hormones to produce high nutritional quality food and in adequate quantity. This article provides an overview of organic agriculture, its present scenario in India, the main principles of organic agriculture and constraints faced in practicing organic agriculture in India.
