Come any occasion and the Indian consumer is ready to make a beeline to purchase another of those Chinese goods. For one, these Chinese goods are substantially cheaper than Indian goods and come in wide varieties. In very simple terms in Economics, we know that anything like large scale dumping and imports can spell a disaster for the economy. As the memory of an Indian consumer goes, this influx of cheap Chinese goods started in the late 90s and gained momentum thereon. Every article, be it an expensive Barbie doll or a painting you want to adorn your house with has a Chinese alternate to it. Why the Chinese goods are priced so cheap? The cost of production being less in China is an obvious answer but when we dwell deeper into the world of Chinese manufacturing, the reasons abound. Chinese goods are known for their moderate quality, prompt delivery and affordable prices in comparison to Indian goods.The Chinese entrepreneurs have infiltrated the market in a very systematic manner with their well-planned marketing strategies and continuous innovations. They study the demand patterns and the market trends and work out the lowest price that they can offer to attract a huge section of the consumers while still maintaining a profitable margin. As the Indian market is price-oriented, the domestic players are slowly losing their share to the strategic Chinese entrepreneurs. The only way the above problem can be solved up to an extent is by introducing SME favourable policies. The Indian Government should understand the basic fact that SMEs are the backbone of Indian economy and their growth will in turn add to the development of India. Indian SMEs should also continuously study the market needs and come up with innovative and cost effective products to tackle the burning issue. Because of cheaper prices products made in China are becoming more popular among the Indian masses. This has had a very negative effect on our own manufacturing units and as a result many of them have had to shut shop.
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) a common childhood onset psychiatric disorder distinguished by the symptoms of inattention, hyperactivity and impulsivity. It is frequently found in association with Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Conduct Disorder, Depressive Disorder and Anxiety Disorder. It manifests early in childhood and more common in boys than in girls. It is now increasingly being felt that criminal behavior has a biologic and medical basis. Various studies suggest association of ADHD and juvenile delinquency. If detected early in life, with proper management, these disorders can be checked from progressing to some extent. This may help in reducing the incidence of crime. The present review is aimed at bringing more awareness about these disorders and their role in juvenile delinquency, especially in India.
A 55 year old male was brought dead to Lady Hardinge Medical College and its associated Hospital, New Delhi with an alleged history of being stabbed by an electric tube light on the left side of chest, following an altercation with the assailant. At autopsy a penetrating wound was found on the left side of anterior chest wall, involving the upper lobe of the left lung. A thin, slender fragment of glass from the tube light was also found in the wound. We have not found any other similar published report of stabbing by thin and fragile glass object like a tube light.
The authors are developing innovations to enable modular builders to improve the energy performance of their classrooms with a minimum increase in first cost. The Modern Building Systems` (MBS) classroom building conforms to the stringent Oregon and Washington energy codes, and at $18/S.F. (FOB the factory) it is at the low end of the cost range for modular classrooms. The authors are investigating daylighting, cross-ventilation, solar preheat of ventilation air, electric lighting controls, and down-sizing HVAC systems. In Phase 2 the number of baseline buildings was expanded by simulating buildings that would be typical of those produced by MBS for each of the seven locations/climates. A number of parametric simulations were performed for each energy strategy. Additionally the authors refined their previous algorithm for a solar ventilation air wall preheater and developed an algorithm for a roof preheater configuration. These algorithms were codes as functions in DOE 2.1E.
A series of building diagnostic tests and short-term monitoring was performed on six units of housing utilizing three panelized wall strategies: Stressed Skin Insulating Core (SSIC) Panels, Closed Panels with insulation installed in the factory, and Open Panels which have insulation installed on site. The building diagnostic tests included fan pressurization tests, smoke leakage testing, coheating tests to determine the overall thermal transmittance value (UA), and thermographic imaging. Then a 13-day period of monitoring measured electrical consumption, comfort criteria, and weather data. The six units of housing varied in size, configuration and orientation which complicated the comparison of performance. However, the results of the building diagnostic tests indicate clear differences in performance that are strongly linked to panelization strategy. The panelized strategies of SSIC and Closed Panels, which incorporated factory installed insulation, were less prone to thermal defects due to improperly installed insulation and resulted in a more airtight envelope.
