Abstract : The ARN (Apparel Research Network) program transitioned to production in 2002 and the CDUM (Customer Driven Uniform Manufacture) program continued the RD and 2) Expanded R&D demonstrations at pilot sites. The overall objective of the program was to demonstrate advanced technology for the end-to-end supply chain management of hard-to-procure hard-to-manage items of the non-recruit clothing supply chain, specifically clothing and individual equipment. The new R&D demonstrations built on the initial foundation of the ARN program. Some of the CDUM pilots have made the transition to production and are now part of ARN. Others are still part of the CDUM R&D pilots and will only make the transition to ARN after they are fully operational and proven successes.
: This paper presents a summary of the results of the Apparel Research Networks (ARN) installation providing for the development and implementation of the Integrated Retail Module (IRM) at Ft. Jackson, Columbia. SC. The IRM solution ties together: (1) the Virtual Item Manager-Wholesale Local (VIM-WL) web based inventory management application; (2) both a wired and wireless network outside the Ft. Jackson Army firewall; (3) electronic forms filing and management with CabinetNG; (4) RF applications with handheld terminals for warehousing data capture; (5) Merlin application software system for Recruit Issue Forms Processing; and (6) optical character recognition automated issue capture system known as the IRM Control Panel. IRM is part of the ARN solution to reduce military clothing inventories through automated systems for asset visibility at the wholesale, retail and manufacturing levels and balanced flow replenishment.
: This paper presents a summary of the results of the Apparel Research Network's (ARN) installation providing a fully automated supply chain management solution incorporating: (1) the Virtual Item Manager-Wholesale Local (VIM-WL) web based inventory management application; (2) both a wired and wireless network outside the Marine Corps firewall at MCRD-PI; (3) electronic forms filing and management with CabinetNG; (4) RF applications with hand-held terminals (HHTs) for warehousing data capture; and (5) the integration of 3D Body Scanner technology for automation of uniform fitting and issue data capture. The report covers the analysis, design, development, rollout, and ongoing support of the ARN Fully Automated Supply Chain Management solution for Marine Recruit Depot - Parris Island (MCRD-PI).
Abstract : This paper presents a summary of the results of the Apparel Research Network's (ARN) installation of the Quality Logistics Management (QLM)/Local wholesale local inventory management system at the Recruit Training Center (RTC), Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. The system implementation enabled the Defense Supply Center Philadelphia (DSCP) and the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) to convert the recruit clothing inventory at the Clothing Initial Issue Points (CIIPS) from retail to wholesale-managed assets.
