The decay of $_{56}^{148}\mathrm{Ba}_{92}$ to levels of odd-odd $_{57}^{148}\mathrm{La}_{91}$ has been studied in experiments where $\ensuremath{\gamma}$-ray singles, time-dependent $\ensuremath{\gamma}$-ray spectra, and $\ensuremath{\gamma}\ensuremath{\gamma}t$ coincidence spectra were collected. The $^{148}\mathrm{Ba}$ activity was produced directly by on-line mass separation. The half-life of $^{148}\mathrm{Ba}$ was determined to be 0.61\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.03 s. A level scheme containing 26 levels and 63 $\ensuremath{\gamma}$ rays is proposed for $^{148}\mathrm{La}$. Spin and parity for several low-lying levels are assigned on the basis of internal conversion coefficient measurements and $\ensuremath{\beta}$- and $\ensuremath{\gamma}$-ray branching. A half-life of 67\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}4 ns is measured for the 56-keV level. Several features of the level scheme are discussed and compared to neighboring La isotopes and $N=91$ isotones.[RADIOACTIVITY $^{148}\mathrm{Ba}$ [from $^{235}\mathrm{U}({\mathrm{n}}_{\mathrm{th}},f)$] measured ${E}_{\ensuremath{\gamma}},{I}_{\ensuremath{\gamma}},{\ensuremath{\alpha}}_{k},{t}_{\frac{1}{2}},\ensuremath{\gamma}\ensuremath{\gamma}t$ coincidence, LEPS and HpGe detectors; $^{148}\mathrm{La}$ deduced levels, ${I}_{\ensuremath{\beta}},{J}^{\ensuremath{\pi}}$, and level halflife. Mass separated $^{148}\mathrm{Ba}$ activity.]
The γ-radiation resulting from the capture of unpolarized thermal, 2 and 24 keV neutrons in enriched 63Cu, and of polarized thermal neutrons in 63Cu oriented at low temperature has been investigated. Of the 323 γ-rays observed 299 could be placed in a 64Cu level scheme containing 109 levels. The reaction Q-value amounts to 7916.09(12) keV. The χ2 analysis of the γ-ray angular distributions obtained from capture of polarized neutrons in oriented 63Cu resulted in three unambiguous spin assignments for levels in 64Cu. The fraction of the Jπ = 1− channel in the thermal capture was determined as (94 ± 2)%. For one level an unambiguous spin assignment has been obtained from the decay scheme.
Capture of polarized thermal, unpolarized thermal, 2 and 24 keV neutrons in enriched 65Cu has been investigated. Of the observed 424 γ-rays 346 could be placed in a level scheme including 99 levels. The reaction Q-value amounts to 7065.97(11) keV. Gamma-ray circular polarization analysis suggests that thermal capture is dominated by the Jπ = 2− component in the capture state and results in unambiguous spin assignments for some low-lying levels. For six more levels unambiguous spin assignments have been obtained from the decay scheme.
