We prepared clinker for high-alumina cement in a rotary kiln and determined the material balance in firing when preparing the raw mixtures with two methods: granulation in a plate granulator and briquetting on a roller press. It is shown that much less dust removal (4%) is ensured by firing the briquets obtained on the roller press. The aluminous cement obtained with this technology has a high graded strength.
Conclusions A method of production of ladle brick making it possible to eliminate scrap of parts for separation, to reduce their porosity, and to increase the compressive strength has been developed. Under the conditions of Borovichi Refractory Combine the porosity has dropped from 17.3–18.4 to 15.5–17.1% while the compressive strength has increased from 27–40 to 68.6–93.0 N/mm2.
Based on the law of constant mass, experiments were carried out for the purpose of determining the parameters of the process of briquetting caustic magnesite on smooth molding rollers. The properties of the briquette were determined together with their interrelation.
The durability of cores fabricated from high-alloy carbon steels for molding silicon carbide electric heaters is inadequate.
