Water pollution due to heavy metals has become a critical problem worldwide. In this study, the removal of chromium(III), cadmium and lead by graphene oxide adsorbent was examined. Graphene oxide nanosheets were synthesized through Hummer's method, and their characteristics were examined using FTIR, XRD, and SEM. The effect of independent variables, pH, contact time and initial concentration of solution on the removal efficiency of Cr(III), Cd2+ and Pb2+ was evaluated according to the experimental Box-Behnken Design using response surface methodology (RSM). Applying quadratic model, the adsorption rate of Cd2+ and Pb2+ was obtained as 99% and the adsorption rate of Cr(III) was obtained as 98%. ANOVA was applied as statistical analysis of responses. According to FESEM images, the average size of graphene oxide sheets was 1 to 3 mu m. After optimization by RSM, adsorption capacities of Cr(III), Pb2+ and Cd2+ were found to be 38 mg/g, 136 mg/g and 68 mg/g, respectively. Examination of isotherms suggested that Cd2+ and Cr(III) adsorptions follow Langmuir, and Pb2+ adsorption follows Freundlich isotherm. The results showed that graphene oxide has a good effect on removing Cr(III), Cd2+ and Pb2+ ions from aqueous solutions. pH of the solution and initial concentration of the contaminant had the highest effect on adsorption of the mentioned heavy metals. The results of RSM analysis showed that the obtained data were in agreement with the predicted model.
Industrialization potential and industrial zoning dependence on bioenvironmental conditions have been under special research focus. Having analyzed national and global standards and models, 22 ecological and human related parameters affecting industrial zoning were selected and evaluated. Then, information layers and digital maps were generated. The layers were statistically analyzed and compared within evaluation models of WLC, SAW and TOPSIS to determine each model's sensitivity in industrial zoning. Zoning outcomes by different evaluation models demonstrated that sensitivity to ecological parameters were different among the models. The three models diagnosed differing regional areas that were suitable for industrialization. The statistical comparisons of different categories among the evaluation models showed that the total areas suitable for industrialization varied by model. The total areas suitable for industrial development obtained by TOPSIS method was less than that found by WLC and SAW methods. This was due to prioritizing human related factors in weighing different parameters for industrial zoning by TOPSIS vs. WLC and SAW. Despite the models' differences in the total area suitable for industrialization, the types of areas were widely common among the models. In all models, Myaneh, Shabestar and Charoymagh regions were specified to be suitable for industrialization. It is implied that the above regions should be given priority in policy-making and future investment programming for industrial expansion. Such a priority stems from specific ecological, social and economic properties, their current industrial infrastructures, and suitable population density in these regions.
The increasing use of internet in different tasks, including E-shopping can be considered as a crucial alternative approach to decrease the problems throughout the mega cities especially metropolitans. Among the most substantial and positive results of this approach are reduction of private vehicle traffic for shopping purposes, energy consumption and also air pollution. For this purpose, District 1, of Tehran, among total 22 districts of this metropolitan, has been selected because of high traffic and air pollution level. Using distribution of 500 questionnaires, including 10 closed questions, randomly among the habitants, this study aims to analysis data according to data frequency method and relation between daily inner travels and traveled distances for shopping purposes. The results show that among total habitants (320,800) of the study area, 87,241 persons possess private vehicle which result in approximately 89,867 trips for shopping purposes (supermarkets or grocery stores). Suffering from high level of air pollution, 55% of respondents greatly considered e-shopping to play a crucial role in reduction of different kinds of pollution, while 10(X. have rejected the efficiency of this method and the other 39% have not had any clear idea. Finally, it is concluded that e-shopping is an effective method in reduction of air pollution and can lead to considerable decrease of energy consumption (71%) and air pollution (39%) resulted from substitution of delivery vans with personal trips for supermarket goods.
