This study presents a comprehensive enumeration of 42 species across 28 genera within the Fabaceae family, contributing to the Flora of Ghazipur district, Uttar Pradesh. It includes identification keys for genera, nomenclature, locality, and field numbers for each species collected from the Ghazipur district.
The present study provides a comprehensive taxonomic account of the family Convolvulaceae in Uttar Pradesh, India, revealing significant additions to the regional flora. Based on extensive field surveys and herbarium consultations, a total of 74 taxa, including 71 species distributed across 20 genera, were documented. Remarkably, nine species are reported for the first time from the state: Cuscuta campestris Yunck., Dinetus racemosus (Roxb.) Sweet, Ipomoea capitellata Choisy, I. coccinea L., I. hederacea Jacq., I. laxiflora H.J. Chowdhery & Debta, I. littoralis Blume, I. mauritiana Jacq., and I. triloba L. These new records not only enhance the floristic diversity of Uttar Pradesh but also underscore the ecological range and adaptability of the family in varied habitats. Each species was examined for morphological traits, phenology, floral characteristics, dehiscence patterns, and conservation status. The findings highlight the ecological value of Convolvulaceae in local ecosystems and emphasize the urgent need for region-specific conservation measures, particularly for rare and endemic taxa. This study contributes to the baseline knowledge of regional plant biodiversity and serves as a foundation for future generations.
Wetlands are incredibly valuable ecosystems, often referred to as “the kidneys of the landscape” or “biological supermarkets” due to numerous benefits they provide. The “CG City Wetlands” ecosystem is aquatic, marshy, shallow, containing fresh water, and has been defined as providing multiple services such as irrigation, agriculture field, water purification, climate regulation, flood control, domestic water supply and water for recreation. Wetland increase productivity and helps to balance the ecosystem. India has a rich variety of wetland habitats. Wetland are the most important ecosystems and very helpful for human life. The present studies based on floristic diversity of angiosperms of CG City Wetland of Lucknow district Uttar Pradesh belonging to 128 species and 113 genera with 42 families. Out of which 92 species are dicots and 36 species are monocots. Present paper provided up to date citation, habits, phenology, occurrence, and illustration.
AIM/RESEARCH QUESTION:The aim of the study was to recommend treatment modalities for primary teeth based on the methodological quality of systematic reviews and meta-analyses (SRMAs) with high certainty of evidence (CE). RESEARCH PROTOCOL:The protocol was registered in advance in the PROSPERO registry for systematic reviews. LITERATURE SEARCH:A literature search on major electronic bases was conducted using predefined search term combinations, and SRMAs with high CE for any treatment outcome were included in the qualitative assessment. DATA EXTRACTION:All the relevant data required for qualitative assessment were extracted independently by two review authors. QUALITY APPRAISAL:The qualitative assessment of the included SRMAs was done using the AMSTAR 2 tool. RESULTS:Four SRMAs were included for the qualitative evaluation, out of which two studies showed high and the other two showed moderate methodological quality. INTERPRETATIONS OF RESULTS:Resin infiltration, in conjunction with noninvasive treatments, proves to be more effective than noninvasive treatments alone in addressing proximal carious lesions, and optimal obturation quality is achieved through the use of rotary instruments as opposed to hand instruments during biomechanical preparation are the recommended treatments for primary teeth based on the high methodological quality of SRMAs with high CE.
Grasses play a very significant role in humans and animals life due to its biogeographical presence, ecological as well as socio-economic importance. They include cereals like wheat, rice, maize and some millets like jowar, ragi, and bajra. Some species are used as a remedy for many diseases. The use of grasses for medicinal purpose is widely discussed in ancient literature, but it is incredible that Its efficacy and special uses are unknown to us. The research on traditional use of grasses is limited. It is important to increase knowledge about medicinal properties of grasses to enhance its value in people's lives.
Objectives:To evaluate the accuracy of static and dynamic computer-assisted implant surgery during dental implant placement. Material and Methods:A literature search was performed for articles evaluating the accuracy of implant placement using static and dynamic computer-assisted implant surgery in four electronic databases. Accuracy of implant placement was evaluated based on the platform, angular and apex deviations as the outcome measures. The Cochrane Risk of Bias tool (RoB 2) was used to evaluate the risk of bias (ROB) in the included articles. The fixed effect model was used for statistical analyses of the pooled data from the included studies. The overall quality of evidence was assessed using the GRADEpro GDT software. Results:Three RCTs were selected based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The overall ROB was low in one study, and some concerns in two studies. The pooled data from the included trials have shown that the platform (MD, 0.12; CI, -0.04 to 0.27, P = 0.15, I2 = 0%) and angular deviation (MD, 0.03; CI, -0.50 to 0.56, P = 0.92, I2 = 0%) are higher in the dynamic computer-assisted implant surgical (D-CAIS) technique. The apex deviation is higher in the static computer-assisted implant surgical (S-CAIS) technique (MD, -0.05; CI, -0.23 to 0.13, P = 0.61, I2 = 10%) with no statistically significant difference. The overall quality of evidence for all the outcomes assessed is "moderate." Conclusion:The platform and angular deviations are higher in the D-CAIS, and the apex deviation is higher in the S-CAIS with no statistically significant difference. Graphical Abstract:
In India, indigenous system of Medicine is based on use of wide biodiversity of medicinal plants. An account of traditional uses of 25 species of angiosperms from Garhwa district, Jharkhand is reported in this paper. The report is an outcome of ethnobotanical survey of 5 villages amoung 4 tribal communities (Oraon, Kharwar, Parhaiya, Korwa) and collective data of common name, used plant part, diseases and ethnomedicinal uses. Now a day the government doing a good work to provide a medical facility in every parts of study area. These information should be helpful for the further use of traditional as well as modern system of medicine i. e. ethnopharmacology, ethnophytochemistry as well as in medico – ethnobotany.
Aim and background:The term "spin" in biomedical journals refers to reporting strategies that misinterpret actual results and mislead readers toward viewing a drug or treatment in a more favorable or less favorable manner. The study aimed to evaluate the presence of spin in abstracts of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) published in PubMed-indexed pediatric dentistry journals. Methods:The study was conducted in the Department of Dentistry at a tertiary care hospital from April to June 2023. Randomized controlled trials published in PubMed-indexed pediatric dentistry journals from January 2010 to December 2022 were included. A literature search was performed by two independent reviewers according to predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria. The abstracts of the included articles were evaluated to identify spin. The method described by Boutron et al. was followed to define and identify spin. Data summary statistics of the included studies were calculated using Google Sheets. Results:The initial search in PubMed resulted in 3,566 articles. According to the eligibility criteria, 327 articles were included and analyzed for spin in the abstracts. A total of 10 out of 327 (3%) articles showed spin in the abstracts. Randomized controlled trials evaluating pulpotomy as an intervention exhibited the most spin. The majority of abstracts with spin showed a discrepancy in the presentation of results and the conclusion section. Conclusion:The presence of spin is evident in 3% of PubMed-indexed Pediatric Dentistry journals published from 2010 to 2022. Clinical significance:Clinicians should be careful when implying the observations of abstracts of RCTs to the clinical scenario, considering the presence of spin. Periapical lesions with mixed radiographic appearance can have odontogenic or nonodontogenic origin. A number of neoplastic lesions either benign or malignant can present as radiolucent, radiopaque, or mixed in jaws and if present near the root apices can be misdiagnosed as odontogenic infection/etiology. The present case report describes a rare case of two elongated radiopaque structures within periapical pathology located beneath the apices of mandibular central incisors in a 26-year-old male. Further, it describes its nonsurgical and surgical endodontic management along with histological confirmation and long-term radiographic healing outcome using cone-beam computed tomography. Microscopic examination revealed the presence of dentin and cementum with fringes of periodontal ligament suggestive of tooth-like structures. No case report has yet reported tooth-like calcifications within the large periapical lesion. Biopsy of such lesions is deemed necessary to differentiate from nonodontogenic lesions which could be benign or malignant in nature.
This study provides extensive information on traditional medicinal plant uses in the Garhwa district of Jharkhand. Semi-structured interviews with 32 knowledgeable individuals were done to gather ethno medical data. Before any field data was collected, each participant gave their free and informed consent. It has been reported that 61 species, spread across 58 genera and 32 families, can treat 42 different kinds of illnesses. The majority of traditional herbal medicinal preparations (40.98%) used trees. Utilizing appropriate statistical methods such as Informant Consensus Factor (ICF) and Fidelity Level (FL%), collected ethnobotanical data have been assessed. Fever and pain are shown to have the highest ICF. The plant Syzygium cumini L. had the highest FL% score (91.79%). The district's and the nation's ethno medicine databases will benefit from this documentation, but the documented ethno medical claim needs to be validated by science.
Placement of implant into a tooth socket at the time of extraction is convenient for both patient and clinician, therefor evaluating the stability of ITI Type-1 implants. The purpose of the study was to evaluate the stability of immediately placed implant using radiographic and clinical technique at different intervals—immediately after implant placement, one month, 3, 6 months post-operatively. 35 cases required ITI Type-1 implant were selected as per the inclusion exclusion criteria. Atraumatic extraction was done followed by implant osteotomy as per manufacturer’s instructions. The appropriately sized implants were Placed followed by placement of synthetic hydroxyapatite bone graft if needed. Clinical and radiographic evaluation were done at above mentioned specified intervals. Statistical analysis was done using Independent- t test and ANOVA with post hoc test. All the 35 implants were stable at the time of placement, only one implant failure was noticed at 6 months. Success rate of immediately placed implant was 97.14
Aims/objectives: Biomechanical preparation (BMP) of primary teeth often involves using hand and rotary instruments. This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of hand and rotary instruments during BMP in primary teeth. Methods: A thorough search for relevant systematic reviews and meta-analyses (SRMAs) was conducted in four databases, including MEDLINE, EMBASE, Google Scholar, and the Cochrane Library. The primary outcome assessed was the instrumentation time (IT) for BMP, and the identified SRMAs were qualitatively analysed using the ROBIS tool. Furthermore, quantitative analysis, evidence stratification, and GRADE analysis of eligible SRMAs were performed using the browser-based R package metaumbrella software. Results: Six SRMAs addressing the research question were included, with five being evaluated as having a high risk of bias (ROB). The findings indicated that the IT required for BMP in primary teeth was 3.2 min less (95% CI = 1.52 to 4.93; I-2 = 96%; P = < 0.001) using rotary instruments compared to hand instruments, with a 'class IV' evidence stratification and 'very low' class of evidence. Conclusions: Based on the existing evidence, it can be inferred that there is insufficient quality data to recommend the use of rotary instruments over hand instruments in primary teeth.
During floristic survey in August 2022, Boerhavia erecta L. (Nyctaginaceae) was collected from Sonbhadra district of Uttar Pradesh, India. A taxonomic description of the plant along with photographs is provided for easy identification.
Cleidocranial Dysplasia (CCD) is a rare autosomal dominant condition which is mainly characterised by skeletal abnormalties like hypoplastic or aplastic clavicles, increase in transverse diameter of the cranium, delayed closure of fontanelles with presence of open sutures and skeletal changes in maxilla and mandible. 2,4 These patients usually presents with delayed exfoliation of deciduous teeth, delayed or failed eruption of the permanent dentition with multiple supernumerary teeth, protruding mandible and mid- face retrusion.2 We present a case report of a 16 year old girl undergoing multiple surgical exposure of impacted permanent teeth under conscious sedation so as to move them in normal occlusion with orthodontic traction
