SAMPE's Materials Forecast Forum (MFF) conducted in August 2018 discussed various aspects and approaches regarding "zero-waste", "biodegradables" and "recycling" materials as we know them today, and the potential of those approaches to support technology innovation and applications in the future. It was also noted that many of the current materials in use and foreseen in the near-term are selected currently and designed to last a lifetime longer than the original owner or purchaser. The MFF concluded that biodegradable materials and recycling of materials play an important function in 20 years.
