Kumaara Veeriya Kaantha Chenduram (KVKC) is a siddha herbomineral formulation indicated for paandu noi in Siddha literature. Paandu noi is a disease characterised by changes in the body's natural colour and pallor found in the skin, nails and conjunctiva. Objectives: To determine the efficacy of the KVKC , the open labeled clinical study was conducted in National Institute of Siddha OPD. Materials and Methods: The 30 patients with Iron deficiency anaemia were selected and treated with KVKC orally with the dose of 260 milligram twice in a day with Nellikai legiyam 6 gram continuously for 45 days. Laboratory investigations for haemoglobin was done on 1 st day and every 15 days once of the study. Results: Clinical assessment was done, based on the before and after treatment scores which were compared statistically and recorded. Regarding Haemoglobin level, 24(80%) patients showed increase of 1 to 3 grams from base level, 6(20%) patients showed increase of 0.1 to 0.9 grams from base level. Regarding Serum Ferritin, out of 30 patients, 9 (30%) patients showed 0.1-3.5ng/ml increase from its base level, 21 (70%) patients showed 3.6-7.0ng/ml increase from its base level.From the Statistical studies, the Mean +/- Standard deviation for Haemoglobin before treatment was 9.7 +/- 0.93 and after treatment was 11.18 +/- 1.08 which was statistically highly significant (p<0.0001).And Serum ferritin before treatment was 9.27 +/- 3.31, after treatment was 13.5 +/- 3.49 which was statistically significant (p<0.0001). Conclusion: It is concluded that Kumaara Veeriya Kaantha Chenduram is proved safe and clinically effective in treating Iron deficiency anaemia.
Dermatosis papulosa nigra (DPN) is a noncancerous skin growth that is classified as a subtype of seborrhoeic keratoses. DPN is predominantly found in individuals with darker skin tones, namely, those with Fitzpatrick skin types III -VI. This condition primarily affects women of Asian or African American descent. The nonavailability of accurate management for this illness presents a challenge to the medical fraternity. Electrodesiccation, laser therapy, and surgery offer expensive solutions. Siddha external medicine provides a solution through appropriate methods. A 70 -year -old woman with Fitzpatrick skin type V appeared with many hyperpigmented papules on the malar region that had been present for five years. The dermatological examination revealed the presence of several brown papular lesions, which were particularly pronounced in the malar areas. The dimensions of the lesions typically varied from 1 to 5 mm; however, in the malar area, their size extended up to 1 cm. The Siddha formulation Pachaieruvai was administered externally for five consecutive days. While undergoing treatment, the patient experienced mild pain, burning, slight redness, and swelling in the area where Pachaieruvai was applied. These symptoms persisted for about an hour during and after the procedure but disappeared within 24 hours with the use of coconut oil. The evaluation of treatment response was determined using the recognised quartile grading methodology. During the first -week follow-up appointment after the last treatment, significant improvements were observed in the cheek lesions, particularly in four large lesions.Throughout the treatment, the patient may encounter mild discomfort, a burning sensation, slight redness, and swelling at the administration site of Pachaieruvai . These reactions are positive indicators of disease regression. No adverse symptoms and recurrence were observed during the follow-up. This research specifically examines the Siddha approach to managing DPN. Based on the findings and observations, it can be concluded that Siddha medicine is effective in treating DPN.
Abstract Introduction: In Siddha medicine, a number of herbs are mentioned as possible cancer therapies, both alone and in combination. Such one of the best herb mention in siddha literature is Ven Kodiveli/ Ven chithramoolam. (Plumbago zeylanica L.) which is an extremely powerful herb with wide distribution, and also component of many Siddha drugs Like Chitramoola kuligai, chithramoola thylam etc. In that chithra moola kuligai is specially indicated for Yoni putru (Vaginal cancer), linga putru (Penile cancer, Prostate cancer), Vippuruthi (All types of cancers). The objective of this study is performing in silico computational analyses of phytoconstituents in extracts of the root of Plumbago zeylanica against antrogen receptor for prostate cancer Methodology: Docking calculations were carried out for retrieved phytocomponents of Plumbago zeylanica against the target Androgen receptor. Essential hydrogen atoms, Kollman united atom type charges, and solvation parameters were added with the aid of AutoDock tools . Observation and inference: Total of 5 bioactive lead compounds were retrieved from the herbal ingredients. From reported data of the herb, the phytochemicals such as Lupeol and Stigmasterol reveals maximum of 5 interactions followed by which the compounds such as Plumbagin, Oleic Acid and β-Asarone reveals maximum of 4 interactionswith the core active amino acid residues present on the target androgen receptor. Conclusion: Based on the results of the computational analysis it was concluded that the bio-active compound’s like Lupeol and Stigmasterol, Plumbagin, Oleic Acidand β-Asarone present in the herbal ingredients possess significant binding affinity towards androgen receptor thereby it may greatly inhibits progression of prostate cancer. Further clinical trials would be beneficial in determining whether this herb is an effective therapy for prostate cancer.

The Siddha system of medicine is a traditional healing system, one of India's oldest holistic systems.This system comprises a large source of drugs of four types, namely herbals, metals, minerals and animals.Lack of standardization and validation is a lacuna in these herbo mineral products which causes concern about their safety and effectiveness.There has been substantial work in recent years into traditional medicines based on these aspects of validity and standardization.The aim of the study is to standardize the Siddha herbomineral formulation Kumara veeriya kantha chenduram.Kumara veeriya kantha chenduram is one the herbomineral formulation mentioned in Anuboga Vaidya Navaneetham part 1.This medicine has been standardized on the basis of organoleptic characters, biochemical analysis, preliminary phytochemical analysis, physico-chemical properties, TLC and HPTLC.A primary phytochemical and biochemical analysis conducted on Kumara veeriya Kantha chenduram revealed that the presence of bio active molecules like Iron, Zinc, Calcium, Ammonium, Starch, Alkaloids, Tannic acids, Phenols, Tannins, Saponins were detected.HPTLC finger printing analysis revealed the presence of two prominent peaks corresponds to presence of five versatile phytocomponents present within it.This research article will report safety and efficacy data for the herbomineral formulation Kumara veeriya kantha chenduram through standardization.
