This study aimed to assess COVID-19 awareness, attitude, practice, and post-infection effects, as well as vaccine acceptance, among general people in North India at the end of the first COVID-19 wave in India. A cross-sectional survey took place from 20 January to 28 February 2021 in Northern India, covering 8 states, including Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi, and Chandigarh to assess the KAP in the context of COVID-19. A validated questionnaire was distributed via social media (Instagram, WhatsApp), and responses were collected via a Google Form. The total number of participants was n=813, out of which more than half of the responders were male (54.2%). The majority of respondents belong to the age category 18 to 29 years (66.9%) and (85.8%) of respondents come from a nuclear family. Mean (percentage) scores for knowledge, attitude, and practice were 57.91%, 60.98%, and 89.79% respectively. The vaccine acceptance in participants was quite high (70.8%), (67.7%) have a positive belief in vaccine efficacy, and (42.7%) of respondents were willing to take the vaccine at a health centre/clinic. Out of the total participants (74.5%) believe that vaccines can control the spread of COVID-19. The prevalence of post-infection effects was more in females with a mean percentage of 52.94, like (94.1%) of females and (70.4%) of males were facing the loss of taste and smell even after recovering from COVID-19, similarly, (70.6%) of female and (38.9%) of male were facing sexual problems after recovering from COVID-19. Although the overall KAP regarding COVID-19 disease was average and balanced in some areas (69.56% overall in all categories of KAP) in our participants. Our result finding shows that there were certain gaps in knowledge, attitude, and practice of participants. Due to these gaps, India faced the second wave of COVID-19. These gaps can be decreased by efficient and tailor-made health education initiatives as the third wave is rousing.
This case study describes an Indian male patient's death caused by paraquat after oral consumption. A 20-year-old male patient attended the emergency department. He had a major complaint of stomach disorders, vomiting, fatigue, and hypothermia. It was confirmed that he was transferred from a nearby hospital after evaluating the situation. It was reported that paraquat poison had a systemic effect, and during the healing process, he was subject to multiple dialysis. This study will help doctors and clinicians to respond quickly to paraquat poisoning and aid in the early recovery and maintenance of poisoning.
Single-crystal X-ray diffuse scattering measurements are reported of the compositional series KCl1-xBrx, a model system for the broader family of disordered rocksalts. Using a combination of Monte Carlo simulations and lattice dynamical calculations, we show that the observed diffuse scattering is well described in terms of (i) non-statistical anion distributions, (ii) local lattice relaxations accompanying Cl/Br substitution, and (iii) the contribution from low-energy phonons. It is found that a tendency for compositional domain formation broadens the thermal diffuse scattering by splitting and softening the acoustic phonon branches. This effect, which is strongest for intermediate compositions, is seen in both experiment and calculation alike. These results establish a link between local compositional order and unconventional lattice dynamics in this system, and reinforce emerging design principles of exploiting compositional fluctuations to tailor physical properties, such as thermal conductivity, that depend on phonon broadening.
SARS-CoV-2 is a highly infectious and deadly coronavirus that first appeared in late 2019 and has since created a pandemic of the acute respiratory disease known as "coronavirus disease 2019" (COVID-19). This literature aims to summarise current knowledge of COVID-19’s clinical, epidemiological, structural, and pathological aspects, as well as the timeline of spread and recent progress in India’s immunization effort. A literature review was conducted through the database of Google Scholar and the official website of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Government of India. All the latest studies regarding knowledge, prevention, and details related to COVID-19 were utilized. The outcome indicated that India is the world's second-most affecting coronavirus region. The adaptability of mutant virus and disobedience to CAB are the leading causes of the rising spread, therefore, having common symptoms of fever, sore throat, cough, and general weakness. This study reported that the number of COVID-19 cases has spread throughout the world, has caused an increase in morbidity and mortality in the population. The improvement of the immunization programme, on the other hand, has opposite impact on mortality rate.
Since 2020, several guidelines have been published to help health practitioners better manage hypertension and diabetes in patients with chronic kidney disease. Scrutiny on the inclusion of race in determining the estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) as well as breakthrough research regarding the drug dapagliflozin for the treatment of patients with chronic kidney disease are discussed.
