The objective of the study is to assess the impact of circular economy practices on financial performance of construction enterprises in Vietnam. The study conducted a survey in 3 months using a survey resulting in 233 valid surveys representing 233 construction enterprises in Vietnam. Using Smart PLS 4.1 software to analyze data, the results show that circular economy practice positively impacts financial performance of circular economy construction and innovation enterprises that play a mediate role in the relationship between circular economy practice and financial performance. Finally, enterprise size has a role to play in moderating impact of circular economy practices on financial performance of construction enterprises in Vietnam.
This study presents the effects of nanoscale zerovalent cobalt (NZVC) on the photosynthetic activity and expression of genes related to the photosynthetic apparatus as well as the activity of antioxidant enzymes in soybean (Glycine max L. Merr). Treatment of soybean seeds with NZVC solution (at concentrations of 0.17; 0.33 and 100 mg/kg seed) has increased the efficiency of light energy absorbed by photosystem II, improved photosynthetic efficiency, and maintained the function of photosynthetic apparatus when plant growth is reduced by enhancing the value of photosynthetic parameters (Fo, Fm, Fv/Fm, ETR, FPSII) compared with the control. The expression of genes involved in photosynthesis in soybean leaves was changed by growth time and NZVC treatment concentration. The psaA, Lhca, psbA, and psbB genes had increased expression levels at 17 and 32 days after sowing, then decreased at 70 days after sowing. The expression of the psbE, and Cyt b6f genes was greater than the control during the growth period. Treatment of soybean seeds with high concentrations of NZVC (0.33 and 100 mg/kg seed) did not negatively affect the photosynthetic function of soybean plants. The activity of nitrate and nitrite reductases and antioxidant enzymes including superoxide dismutase, catalase, peroxidase, and ascorbate peroxidase of cobalt-treated plants were better than those of the control. This is a defense mechanism of plants to minimize the harmful effects of these stresses. This result has elucidated the mechanism of increasing the yield of soybean when its seeds were treated with NZVC.
Global warming and the dreadful climate condition in China demands the sustainable energy transition and production that must be far away from coal-based energy production. The present article, thereby, intends to assess the effectiveness of environmental knowledge and green supply chain practices on sustainable energy production. The study also introduces green behavior and green leadership as a moderator to evaluate the proposed relationship. Primary data has been collected and assessed by PLS-SEM. The findings reveal that environmental knowledge, green purchases, and internal environmental management (IEM) have a positive association with sustainable energy production (SEP) in China. The outcomes also indicate that green behavior significantly moderates among environmental knowledge, green purchases, and SEP, and green leadership significantly moderates among IEM and SEP in China. The research guides the policymakers in establishing policies related to SEP using green behavior, GSC practices, and environmental knowledge.
The escalation of regulatory obligations in order to reshape and implement eco-friendly operations make it essential for firms to execute the related strategies and enhance their position in a competitive market. Scholars and practitioners, thereby, have aligned their search in the area of sustainability to get to know regarding activities that might improve the outcomes of business practices. To contribute in a particular area, the study attempts to explore the critical role of knowledge management, technological advancement, and green supply chain (SC) management on SBP in the presence of a moderator—leadership. China is used as a study sample, and the study model was evaluated through structural equation modelling. Statistical findings indicate that knowledge management, technological advancement, and green SC management have a positive influence on SBP in China. The findings reveal that leadership support significantly moderates knowledge management, technological advancement, green SC management, and SBP in China. These outcomes guide regulators in making regulations related to sustainable performance using the best practice of SC, technology advancement, and knowledge management.
A sharp increase in economic and human development has multiplied the carbon intensity due to which there is a significant need of effective strategies in order to curb carbon emissions. Thus, the present study aims to examine the effective of green finance, eco-innovation, renewable energy output (REO), renewable energy consumption (REC), and carbon taxes on carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in BRICS countries in the time of 2001–2020. Cross-sectional autoregressive distributed lag (CS ARDL) is used to test the connection among the variables. Empirical estimations of CS-ARDL approach validates the effectiveness of green finance, eco-innovation, REO, REC, carbon taxes, and industrialization as the relationship of these factors with carbon emissions is negative in nature in BRICS economies. Based on the evidences, the study recommends the formulation of environmentally friendly practices and advancement in green finances to mitigate carbon emissions.
This study aims to apply a fact-based methodology called the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) to evaluate the performance of customs brokers in Vietnam. It involves weighting the importance of factors affecting the quality of customs brokerage service based on market rules and regulatory compliance. The significance of the factors was ranked through the AHP method, based on expert opinions gathered from semi-structured interviews with 10 senior managers with over five years of service among Vietnam’s customs brokers. The results indicate that professional qualification, trade compliance and professionalism marked by high commitment, trustworthiness and adaptability with customers, are the most critical factors influencing the quality of customs brokerage service. Building upon the AHP model, the study formulates the Vietnam Customs Broker Scoring Criteria for the General Department of Vietnam Customs (GDVC).
Japan is one of the most significant foreign investors in Vietnam. However, information about trade compliance by Japanese firms in Vietnam remains scant. This study draws from a new survey of Vietnamese import and export enterprises in 2019, which includes both local and Japanese firms. It shows that Japanese firms are performing better than local firms in terms of trade compliance and regulation. They are also more likely to acknowledge the importance of public-private partnerships and the legal capacity of human force. However, the biggest concerns and obstacles of these actors are Vietnam’s specialized laws and regulations in the cross-border trade of goods. These findings offer important policy implications to enhance trade compliance for Vietnamese enterprises in general and Japanese FDI firms in particular. Green knowledge sharing and behaviors are vital for organizations to implement green supply chain management and promote green entrepreneurship. These solutions support firms to understand market and customer needs through which they are able to carry out the practices which strengthen their sustainability. By realizing the significance, the research develops a model which integrates the concept of green supply chain management, green entrepreneurship, and sustainable development goals. The framework also builds to evaluate the moderating role of green knowledge sharing and employee green behavior. Proposed hypotheses are tested in the sample Vietnamese textile managers, and PLS-SEM methodology was employed to evaluate the model reliability, validity, and association among constructs. Generated results reveal the positive impact of green supply chain and green entrepreneurship on sustainable environment, and results also reveal that green knowledge sharing and employee green behavior both have the potential of being a moderator which enhances the relationship among outlined constructs. The revelation provides important insights for organizations to look into these parameters in order to achieve sustainability in a longer run.
Green recovery, as a key economic recuperation procedure, is viewed as an ultra-fine choice for economies as it seems to be the only passage through which nations can rebuild their economies. The study, thus, assesses the role of financial markets and natural resource utilization in green economic recovery in 20 developing nations, with full years of information from 1995 to 2020. The major findings confirm that natural resource utilization accelerates green economic recovery. Also, the uni-directional linkage of natural resource utilization and green economic recovery is confirmed, hence, enhancing the significance of resource utilization. The predicted findings also show that the financial markets and price fluctuations of land and resources are more sensitive than manufacturing capacity. The consistent waveform demonstrates the unidirectional cause-and-effect relationship between worldwide financial strategy's volatility, supply prices, and manufacturing output. Based on the findings, the study recommends that key natural resources policies are helpful to cover green economic recovery.
The knowledge economy system shifts focus on the significance of intellectual capital. Moreover, the concept itself has gained generous amount of recognition at global level due to the increasing pressure from competitors, stakeholders, and environmental forces. Indeed, its antecedents and consequences have been assessed by scholars. However, the assessment appears to be inexhaustive with respect to meaningful frameworks. With the help of preceding literature, the present paper designed a model which involves green intellectual capital, green innovation, environmental knowledge, green social behavior, and learning outcomes. The model stipulates that green intellectual capital makes green innovation possible which further results in competitive advantage in the presence of environmental knowledge as a mediator as green social behavior and learning outcomes as a moderator. Interestingly the model acknowledges the proposed relationship through the empirical evidence collected from 382 Vietnamese textile and garment enterprises. The findings provide deeper insights regarding the issue that how firms could extract maximum benefits from their green assets and capabilities in the form of intellectual capital and green innovation.
ASEAN are struggling due to gigantic challenges related to climate complexities and energy scarcity. In this regard, this is the prime concern of region that how low carbon energy transition can be embraced when there is a high consumption of non-renewable ratio in energy mix. Hence, the study examines the role of carbon finance, carbon taxes, sustainable energy technologies (solar and hydroelectric), industrialization, and population growth on the low-carbon energy transition by following MMQR approach. Outcomes indicate that carbon finance, carbon taxes, sustainable energy technologies (solar and hydroelectric), industrialization, and population growth are positively linked with low-carbon energy transition in ASEAN countries. Based on the evidences, it implies that in order to accelerate renewable shares, clean technologies adoption and green investment in climate friendly methods are needed to achieve zero-carbon goal.
Environmental concerns such as climate complexities and global warming are making scholars conscious of the factors which could, even slightly, help economies to restrict harmful emissions. Therefore, prominent emerging factors such as ecological innovation, green energy, and governance are gaining greater recognition in academia. This article examines the impact of eco-innovation, trade openness, financial development, green energy, and government governance on sustainable development in ASEAN countries. The study uses industrialization to predict sustainable development as a control variable. Employing a cross-sectional ARDL model, the study provides benefits as it identifies dependence patterns of constructs with a special focus on the correlations among the variables. The outcomes reveal that eco-innovation, trade openness, financial development, green energy, government governance, and industrialization have negative linkages with greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in ASEAN countries. By witnessing the positive roles of ecological innovation, good governance, green energy, trade openness, and financial development on sustainable development, policy makers are able to structure policies regarding sustainable efficient technologies and regulate institutions towards green agendas in order to halt global warming.
The projections of UN indicate that by the year 2030, natural resource demand will become threefold as of today. This for sure surpasses existing capacity due to which many countries are facing depletion issue or might face depletion issue in coming years. Realizing this challenge, economies all over the globe are shifting towards circular economy development in order to address the environmental sustainability issue. In Vietnam, economic activities are normally based on the principle of linear economy. However, this traditional approach not only creates shortage of natural resources but also becomes the reason of environmental destruction. Thus, the study is an attempt to find out the harmonious relationship of economic and non-economic determinants with circular economy in the presence of sustainable supply chain management as a moderator. By employing structural equation modelling, findings indicate that circular economy is the right direction as it ensures job security and bring quality education and political stability. Results also confirm that sustainable supply chain management increases the strength of positive relationship of said variables. In the light of the evidences, the paper proposes few suggestions and implications to promote the development of circular economy so that economic growth and environmental quality can be achieved at the same time.

GHG emissions growth of Vietnam is highest all over the globe and the carbon intensity of this economy is considered second highest in Asian economies. As the energy intensity level is rising constantly, thereby, the predictions indicate that Vietnam will become highest GHG emission in the region. In order to address the issue, the current article aims to investigate the impact of green finance, technology advancement, energy efficiency, industrialization, and population growth on sustainable development in Vietnamese context. The time chosen for the study is 1991 to 2020. The study has used the Dynamic Auto-regressive Distributed Lags (DARDL) and the Bayesian Auto-regressive Distributed Lags (BARDL) model for data analysis. Findings exposed that green finance, technology advancement, REO, REC, industrialization, and population growth all are positively connected with sustainable development. The study guides the regulators in establishing regulations related to sustainable development through the adoption of green finance, energy, and technology.

Despite their population, Asian countries have failed to provide full economic recovery, and what recovery has occurred may be short-lived if they do not protect the environment. Asian nations' economic recovery from the Asian Financial crisis (1997–1998) is examined in this study, with a focus on the consequences of globalization, economic growth, financial development, natural resource utilization and innovation. Econometric approaches that can handle cross-sectionally dependent panel datasets are used to determine the environmental implications of these variables over the period 1980 to 2016. This work uses the second-generation panel unit root and long-run cointegration tests for robust and reliable results. There is a mixed order of integration for the variables, which are cointegrated. The long-term regressions show increased economic recovery due to natural resource use, while technological advancement reduces economic recovery. The results suggest that financial development and eco-innovation enhance economic recovery, whereas urbanization accelerates environmental deterioration by increasing the ecological footprint. This study recommends that Asian countries become more financially incorporated, fund environmental initiatives, support environmental modernization and accelerate economic recovery rates through their energy production and consumption.

Cassava mosaic disease (CMD), caused by Sri Lankan cassava mosaic virus (SLCMV), was first detected in Tay Ninh province in the southeast region of Vietnam in 2017 and is an emerging threat for cassava production in Vietnam. This study was conducted to characterize the causal agent of CMD in Nghe An province in the north-central region of Vietnam, which is more than 1,200 km away from Tay Ninh province. Genetic relationships between SLCMV isolates indicated that both DNA-A and DNA-B sequences from Nghe An province were identical with the isolates from Tay Ninh province and were highly homologous (>99.7%) with isolates from Cambodia, Thailand and China. This study confirms the gradual spread of SLCMV in Vietnam as an emerging threat to cassava production. In addition, the outcome of this study could help in the timely enforcement of effective management strategies for the cassava mosaic disease in Vietnam.
