Održivi razvoj i očuvanje krajobraza, danas postaju dio strategija razvoja mnogih država. Kako bi se osigurala dozvoljena intervencija u krajobrazu, potrebno je snimiti postojeće stanje, odrediti krajobrazne vrijednosti i kapacitet nosivosti tog područja. U krajobraznom oblikovanju važno je poznavati entomofaunu kako zbog bioraznolikosti, tako i zbog očuvanja biljnih vrsta. Revitalizacija i oblikovanje novih krajobraznih cjelina podrazumijeva analizu postojeće flore te razmatra ideju zadržavanja flornih elemenata unutar novog projekta kako bi se očuvala autentičnost terena, ali i vrednovala starost prisutnih vrsta. Cilj rada bio je istražiti entomofaunu na postojećim hortikulturnim vrstama u posjedu Franjevačkog samostana i Franjevačke klasične gimnazije u Visokom. Istraživanje je provedeno od rujna 2022. do kolovoza 2023. godine. Determinirane su 81 drvenasta i grmolika vrsta te 28 kukaca čije je djelovanje štetno. Determinacijom nađenih vrsta utvrđuje se kako najviše štetnika pripada redu Hemiptera, zatim Coleoptera te Lepidoptera, dok je najmanje pripadnika redova Diptera i Hymenoptera.
Naglom urbanizacijom, izgradnjom i razvojem poljoprivrede, stanište mnogih biljnih vrsta je smanjeno. Unutar antropogeniziranih travnjaka za koje mnogi žele da izgledaju zeleno i homogeno, obično nalazimo različite travne ili travno-djetelinske smjese koje, ako nisu pravilno održavane, ubrzo prerastaju u partere bogate biljnim vrstama koje u određenim oblicima pojavnosti mogu sačuvati bioraznolikost, no isto tako mogu postati i plodan medij za razvoj invazivnih biljnih vrsta. Unutar ovog rada inventarizirano je ukupno 68 biljnih vrsta koje pripadaju u 22 porodice. Među njima je 5 invazivnih: Amaranthus retroflexus, Erigeron annuus, Conyza canadensis, Veronica persica i Phytolacca americana. Također, zbog dužeg razdoblja suše neke vrste zauzimaju prostor primarno dominantnim vrstama trava, te su travnjaci i parteri zelenih površina puni korovnih vrsta, što u očuvanju bioraznolikosti može biti korisno, ali i vrlo opasno, ako se neke od njih prošire i počinju predstavljati ugrozu.
On the experimental plots of the Institute of Agriculture and Tourism in Poreč, weed communities were analyzed in a conventionally‐grown olive orchard and in consociation with pyrethrum. Phytocenological surveys were conducted in March, June, and September using the Braun-Blanquet Cover Abundance Scale. Altogether, 54 species of vascular plants were recognized in both orchards. However, in a conventionally‐grown olive orchard, 27 were identified, whereas 42 weed species were identified in consociation with pyrethrum. Only 15 weeds were common to both orchards. Between both olive orchards, significant differences existed regarding the floristic and community diversity metrics. In consociation with pyrethrum as a cover crop, olive orchard had a more stable weed community during the season, while two weed species, Mercurialis annuua L. and Medicago arabica (L.) Huds., dominated in a conventionally‐grown orchard in the fall. The weed communities in both orchards significantly differ considering the appearance season (spring, summer, and fall). An autumnal weed community in a conventionally‐grown olive orchard was more diverse, more abundant, and with a more distinct floristic composition than a weed community in the spring and summer periods. However, an olive‐orchard weed community in consociation with pyrethrum also differed regarding the season, but a Canonical Correspondence Analysis (CCA) demonstrated a clear separation of a more diverse estival weed community than the one observed in the spring and summer.
A vegetation survey in northeastern Croatia explored the influence of intensive arable farming on the weed community in relation to the crop edge and adjacent field margin. A total of 141 vascular plants were recorded, and significant differences among the species appear in the field margins (134) as compared to the crop edges (109) and middle of the fields (49). Native plants predominated (83.7%), but among non-natives, the most abundant were Ambrosia artemisiifolia L., Abutilon theoprasti Med. and Veronica persica Poir., with the highest cover values inside the cropped areas, particularly during spring sowing of row crops. The most diverse (having significantly higher Evenness and Shannon?s diversity index) was the community from the field margin, followed by the weed community that developed on the crop edges. Three distribution patterns were observed: weeds typically limited to the crop area, weeds limited to the non-crop area and weeds with some ability to spread from the field margins. Major variations in species composition were identified according to sowing season and crop type. Wind dispersal annuals with light- and nitrogen-demands were associated with disturbed, tilled habitats, while perennials with higher requirements for moisture and other than a wind mode of dispersal, were associated with the field margins.
This paper analyses the floristic biodiversity of weed communities in the arable lands of the Istrian peninsula during a twelve year period (2005–2017). A total of 50 fields were surveyed for each sampling time using the seven-degree Braun-Blanquet cover abundance scale in the following agricultural categories: a) permanent crops (vineyards/olive groves), b) alfalfa fields, c) cereals, d) row crops and e) ruderal areas. The taxonomic identification was performed during the full development of vegetation, for cereals in June and July, and for the rest – in August and September. A total of 175 weed species were determined during both study periods with Asteraceae and Poaceae families as the most abundant. Altogether, therophytes were dominant in both surveys, followed by hemycryptophytes and geophytes. Variations in species composition were visible in both study periods (2005 and 2017) as well as in the selected habitat types. Exclusive species were found in addition to those that were common for both surveys. Changes in species composition between 2005 and 2017 referred to the difference in row spacing in earlier period, and ruderal vs. agricultural habitats in the recent survey. The differences in phenological traits between the past and present surveys were greatest for germination season in permanent crops and row crops, flowering start for permanent crops, flowering period for ruderal area and weed height for permanent crops. Significant differences between the past and present survey for other plant traits did not occur.
A fruit tree has always been a determinant of an ornamental garden shaping in Croatia. From the 13th century onward an organized planting of fruit trees has been recorded. A total of 100 gardens in Istria have been analyzed , 50 of which were examined in the Istria interior, and 50 in the coastal area. Due to the shape and architectural style, 8 different types of gardens were determined and classified, by the location,  into three climatic-relief areas A, B and C. There were 7 types of ornamental gardens with a  fruit tree as a primary determinant of the garden, except one without it. Out of the 23 recorded fruit species, cherry, figs, grapes and olives have been mostly common  in the Istria interior whereas olives, Nespoli, figs and grapes have been known in the Istria coast.
The aim is to determine possibility of developing eco-agrotourism on the Korcula Island. Due to growing diversification within agriculture and tourism, the combination of organic agriculture and ecotourism gives a new product - eco-agrotourism, which is increasingly recognized in the world tourism. Eco-agrotourism at the highest level combines the sustainability of both activities. In addition to the mentioned it supports and protects the diversity of ecosystems, the preservation of natural landscapes; promotes biodiversity, preserves rural architecture and cultural content, encourages the promotion and sale of ecological products as well as the synergy of the economy with the environment and the growth and development of local tourism. Eco-agrotourism is an opportunity for employment of the domicile population especially young people. This is particularly pronounced in less favored areas, such as islands. The results showed that the agrotourism farm owners have the ecological awareness about the importance of nature, authenticity and origin of products through organic agriculture, which is connected with the tradition and culture of the islands, and creates a strong interaction unified in eco-agrotourism. Also, the island of Korcula has basic preconditions for the development of agrotourism, in particular eco-tourism, such as: favorable climatic and geographical conditions, attractive landscapes, specific flora and fauna, tradition of agricultural production, availability of "healthier" and quality food, but also wealth of cultural goods, way of life, various events, dialects, folklore and gastronomy.
Sustainable agriculture development has been recently much concerned. In this context “sustainability†can be defined as a way by which biological systems remain different and productive. Namely, it advocates reduction or completely exclusion of synthetic chemical agents. Since this production system , generally designated as sustainable or organic farming, has become world wide trend its terminology analysis requirement has been occurred. Due to the fact that agriculture sustainability originated from English speaking countries terms for new notions in the Croatian language have been mostly borrowed from the English language. English borrowings in the context of the sustainable agriculture will be analysed in this paper aiming to determine structure and meaning of the terms as well as possible replacement by the domestic (Croatian) terms. This will both make easier understanding such terminology to our students and contribute to the Croatian language standard concern.
Influence of the East to the West, and today vice versa, has also left traces in garden art.Croatia, as a country at the East and West crossroads, was marked in the history by many tumultuousevents that have marked it as a country with a rich past. In the garden architecture of the past period apart pertaining to the period of Turkish rule which has significantly altered the shape of the gardenarchitecture is also met here . Namely, it took over floristic and architectural features of the Easterncultures in garden raising. Although the introduction of plant species from the East mostly occurredwithin the Roman rule, in all the centuries following, these areas are known by the plant materialarrived in our gardens as an ornamental element or as a condiment. This paper deals with the plantspecies list native to the East, their time of introduction and examples of Chinese and Japanese gardenarchitecture shape present within our park units.
This article discusses language awareness, a new approach in teaching a target language. It provides differences between tradition al looking at grammar teaching and the new one i.e. LA (language awareness) whereby students reveals grammar spontaneously. It also introduces some techniques teachers can use aiming to raise student s' consciousness of the form and function of targeted grammatical features. The written techniqu es have been used effectively and successfully by the authors at their faculties of Agriculture. Howe ver they can be modified and used at any education level.
Occurence of small sacral architecture in Croatia dated from the period of the first record of Croats existence (from early Middle Ages onward). Regardless the place (urban agglomeration, rural area or open landscape such as fields, forests, meadows, mountains and the like) where people live they have always been followed by small sacral architectures. They are characterized by architecture and garden design, occurrence purpose and use, appearance place and almost always determination of the space it is located. The purpose is always related to a religion belief being the symbol of the Christian affiliation. Materials and methods used are common for investigating landscape values such as field touring and valorization, historical research of archives, photographs, clipping archive, recording new data,making surveys and the like. This paper aims to prove specific values of small sacral architecture within the landscape values of Croatia and represent this aspect of human intervention as a specialty of traditional belief and space design.
