“Rings of rings” are formed in the reaction of unsaturated propellanes or bridged annulenes with bis(triazolinediones). The remaining vinylene units in the oligomers can be coupled photochemically to cyclobutane rings. Also mixed oligomers can be prepared. The molecular weights lie in the region of 1000 to 3000. They could be determined noly be252Cf plasma desorption mass spectrometry.
