Abstract In the separation nozzle process for enrichment of U-235 the kinetic energy of the jet is con­ centrated in the heavy fraction of the H2/UF6 mixture. Flow measurements with free molecular probes and separation experiments have shown that this energy can be utilized in a so-called double deflection nozzle to increase significantly the overall isotope separation effect.
