Mirror writing is script that runs in the direction opposite to normal, with individual letters also reversed. We experienced a right-handed female patient suddenly developed mirror-writing. She had undergone mild traumatic brain injury and been diagnosed as cerebral concussion without definitive lesions on MRI.. For about one year, she did not felt any other abnormalities related to the previous head trauma. Thereafter, she complained of only the confusion of numbering and naming in activities of daily livings without focal neurological deficits. We detected the mirror-writing of pure and complete type(the reversal of order and morphology of character). And we continued rehabilitative measures including motor retraining activities. But the significant recovery was not seen yet.
We experienced a rare case of winged scapula which is caused by the rupture of rhomboideus major muscle without nerve injury in a 12-year old female after rucksack-bearing. Electrodiagnostic study revealed that onset latencies, amplitudes, and conduction velocities were normal in long thoracic nerve, spinal accessory nerve, and dorsal scapular nerve. Needle EMG findings were normal as well. Explorative operation was performed and the rupture of rhomboideus muscles was detected. Direct surgical repair of the ruptured muscle was carried out and deformity was corrected. The anatomical and functional restoration were satisfactorily accomplished.
