SiOCHF films deposited in a standard box coater fitted with a broad beam ion source demonstrate low refractive index combined with a relatively high hardness and elastic recovery values, making them attractive for use in ophthalmic applications.
Optical and mechanical properties of hybrid (organic/inorganic) thin films prepared by glancing angle deposition of SiO2, in the presence of vapors of an organosilicon compound are discussed and correlated with their composition and microstructure.
Counterfeiting’s impact on our economy and safety is undeniable. Interference-based optical security devices have played an important role in limiting its adverse effects. We show how these devices have evolved with the addition of new features and, more recently, with the integration of active materials.
