I have worked in many areas of nonlinear mechanics, including smart materials, geomechanics of salt domes, tire mechanics, and vibration of rotating bodies. In the distant past I worked in polymer rheology,
For the last decade or two I have worked on vibrations and dynamics, most recently on the dynamics of built-up (jointed) structures. This includes constitutive modeling of joints and model reduction of jointed structures.
Most recently I have been developing mathematically defensible approaches to Quantification of Margin and Uncertainty (QMU).
Specialties: Nonlinear modeling, nonlinear vibrations, model reduction.
Research program management.
