个人简介
Prasanta Kumar Basu obtained B. Sc. (honours in Physics), B. Tech., M. Tech. and Ph.D. (all in Radio Physics and Electronics) degrees, all from the University of Calcutta. He joined this Institute in 1971 as a Lecturer, where he became a Professor in 1986, the Head of the Department during 2002-04 and the Coordinator of the Centre of Advanced Study program in Radio Physics and Electronics in 2005. Prof. Basu worked as a Post doctoral fellow in Katholieke University, Leuven, Belgium, as an Alexander von Humboldt Fellow in University of Wuerzburg, Germany, and a Visiting Professor at McMaster University, Canada. His research interest covers transport and optical processes in semiconductors, both bulk and nanostructures, electronic and photonic devices, optical communication and more recently, silicon photonics and physics of VLSI devices. He has authored or coauthored more than 100 papers published in refereed journals, a large number of conference articles, and a book " Theory of Optical Processes in Semiconductors: Bulk and Microstructures" (Clarendon Press, Oxford, UK). He jointly edited a special issue of IEE Proceedings: Circuits, Devices and Systems. He serves as reviewers of AIP, APS, IoP, IEEE, IEE journals.Prof. Basu is a Senior Member of IEEE, and a Fellow of IETE (India). He is the Chairman of IEEE-LEOS (Kolkata). He conducted a number of conferences/workshops at both the national and international levels.
