Tânia Valente Silva is Junior Researcher at the Associate Laboratory LSRE-LCM, from the Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto (FEUP), under the Individual Call to Scientific Employment Stimulus 2018, funded by the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT). In October 2015, she defended her doctoral, under the Doctoral Program in Environmental Engineering at FEUP, with an FCT scholarship. In 2007 and 2009, she received her graduation and master's degree in Chemical Engineering, respectively from the Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto (ISEP), Portugal. For the last 12 years, she has published 64 scientific publications, including 31 papers in international scientific periodicals with peer review (h-index of 17 and >700 citations), 1 patent, and 32 communications in international conferences. She was also involved in 2 R&D projects with private companies and 9 national/international projects, related to the development/optimization of environmental friendly technologies for pollution control. Additionally, she was PI of 1 transnational cooperation project FCT-CAPES (DRI/CAPES 5431), and 1 national project in cooperation with Suldouro (FEUP/SULDOURO/2019-74570), both related to leachate treatment. Currently, she is Co-PI of an FCT PeX project (EXPL/EAM-AMB/0216/2021). In addition, she completed the supervision/co-supervision of 5 MsC and 2 PhD students, and nowadays, she is the co-supervisor of 4 PhD students. Beyond that, she has refereed for 5 scientific journals and participated in the organization of 4 international congresses and a summer school on advanced oxidation processes. Her main research interests have been focused on (i) synthesis of solar fuels and ammonia through the development of ground-breaking photo-thermocatalytic technologies for CO2 and N2 fixation; (ii) recalcitrant wastewater remediation, including leachates from both industrial and urban sanitary landfills, through the development of integrated treatment strategies, combining conventional chemical and biological processes with advanced oxidation processes; and (iii) design of cost-effective solar collectors to promote homogeneous and heterogeneous photocatalytic reactions and boost microalgal biomass growth.
