As a clinical social worker, she provided intensive case management services to people with severe mental health problems in a community mental health clinic. Prior to her social work career, Dr. Stanhope had eight years of policy experience working in Washington, DC, as an advocate for school psychologists in the areas of mental health, health care, and diversity issues. She participated in national coalitions of public interest organizations lobbying Congress and the administration on issues related to health care reform, welfare reform, and mental health parity.
Dr. Stanhope earned her PhD from the University of Pennsylvania, her MSW from the University of Pittsburgh, her MA in Public Policy from The George Washington University, and her BA from St. Andrews University, Scotland.
