Dr. Ahmed Galib Reza received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) in 2019, the M.S. degree in Ubiquitous IT from Dongseo University, Korea, in 2011, and a B.S. degree in Information Technology from Multimedia University, Malaysia, in 2008. Currently, he is a Research Fellow at the School of Electronic Engineering, Dublin City University. His research interests include the next-generation passive optical networks (PONs), free-space optical communications (FSO), data center interconnects, the generation of the optical frequency comb, and digital signal processing.
Prior to his current position, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the Information and Electronics Research Institute in KAIST (2019 to 2021) and the School of Electronic Engineering at Dublin City University (2021 to 2022). He has made over 45 peer-reviewed scholarly contributions to academic journals and conferences and holds four patents. He also served as a reviewer for major journals including IEEE JLT, IEEE PTL, IEEE Photonics Journal, Optics Express, Optics Letters, Optics Communications, and Optical Engineering.
In 2020, Dr. Reza was awarded the G-CORE research grant from the National Research Foundation, Korea for developing converged 5G PON systems utilizing PAM-n modulations with IM/DD technology. In 2021, he received the Brain Korea'21 Four research grant for the development of photon transmission systems for quantum cryptographic key distribution between terrestrial and satellites. Dr. Reza received the Best Student Paper Award at the International Conference on Optical Internet (COIN) in 2014.
