个人简介
Anita has been Professor of Psychology at the University of Canberra (UC) since 2008, and served as Head of Psychology in 2010-2011. She currently teaches psychological assessment, cross-cultural psychology and health psychology. She has an extensive publication record in her research areas of acculturation, social and cultural competence, internationalisation, work-related stress, coping and mental health, and adolescent problem behaviours. Her current research projects include intercultural social interactions, international students’ psychosocial adjustment, and evaluation of psychosocial interventions.
Anita has over 20 years of experience in designing, delivering, and evaluating diversity and training programs. She has completed many consultancies in staff and leadership training and diversity research, for UC’s Professional Management Program, Melbourne University’s Dunlop Asia Leadership Program, University of British Columbia (Canada), the Netherlands Organisation for International Cooperation in Higher Education (the Netherlands), IDP Education Australia, Australian Institute of Family Studies, Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs, Australian Volunteers International, and various Australian and New Zealand universities.
She is co-developer of the EXCELL (Excellence in Cultural Experiential Learning and Leadership) Program, an evidence-based training program for developing students’, migrants’ and expatriates’ sociocultural competencies. EXCELL has been introduced into over 100 institutions in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the UK, and the Netherlands.
Anita was awarded a national Carrick Citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning in 2007, for her leadership in enhancing students’ development of cross-cultural awareness and social skills. She was the leader of the Australian Learning and Teaching Council Priority Project on “Internationalisation at Home: Enhancing Intercultural Capabilities of Business and Health Teachers, Students and Curricula” (2011 – 2012), which involved multi-disciplinary and cross-institutional action research, including the design, delivery, and evaluation of professional development courses aimed at improving cross-cultural communication in business and health settings.
