Ariana Moutinho is a research fellow at the Marine and Environmental Sciences Centre (MARE) - Polytechnic of Leiria, in the Coastal Systems and Ocean research group. She has a Master in Molecular and Cell Biology (2012) from the University of Aveiro, and a Degree in Biology from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto (2008), both in Portugal. She was a trainee at the Biochemical Laboratory of the Medicine Faculty of Porto and at the Molecular Genetics Unit (INSA Porto). In 2014, she became a research fellow at the Biology Department and CESAM (Centre for Environmental and Marine Studies) of the University of Aveiro, working in amphibian ecophysiology. On MARE, she has worked in the project "SmartBioR: Smart Valorization of Endogenous Marine Biological Resources Under a Changing Climate", applying biochemical tools to assess the impact of global climate changes on marine systems. Currently, Ariana is working at the COVID-19 Diagnostic Centre of the Polytechnic of Leiria in molecular detection of SARS-CoV-2 and collaborating on other MARE projects. She co-authored three publications in ISI journals and one magazine article. Her areas of interest and expertise include the use of integrative approaches in ecotoxicology, using biochemical and molecular tools in aquatic ecosystems research.
