Asier Matallana is a Telecommunications Engineer (2013, UPV/EHU) and a PhD in Telecommunications Engineering since 2020 (UPV/EHU), being an international thesis qualified with the Cum Laude distinction. During the completion of the PhD thesis, during 2018, he carried out an international stay in the Devices, Electronic Applications and Sensors (DEAS) Research Group, Università Degli Studi di Parma (Italy).
➤ 2010-2013||Collaborating student: He was a fellow in the "Aula Tecnalia" at the Faculty of Engineering in Bilbao (UPV/EHU) and a collaborating student of the Applied Electronics Research Team (APERT).
➤ 2014-2014||Contracted Research Staff: He worked as a research staff at the UPV/EHU for the Applied Electronics Research Team (APERT).
➤ 2015-2018||Research Staff in Training: He enjoyed a pre-doctoral scholarship granted by the Basque Government.
➤ 2019-2020||PhD R&D Engineer: He worked as a PhD R&D Engineer in the APERT Research Team (contracted by the Euskoiker Foundation). At this stage, he collaborated in the HiLumi LHC project in the design of high-current DC/DC power supplies for the European Center for Nuclear Research (CERN).
➤ 2021-Currently||Contracted PhD Research Staff: He has served as a researcher staff (Science Law, Art. 22) at the UPV/EHU and as a teaching collaborator in various Master and Degree subjects taught at the Faculty of Engineering in Bilbao (UPV/EHU).
■ He is the author/co-author of the following scientific contributions:
• 5 articles in international journals (4 in Q1 and 1 in Q3).
• 3 popular science articles in national magazines.
• 22 communications in congresses (6 international and 16 national).
■ The indicators of his research activity are:
• h-index: 4 (Scopus), 3 (Publons), 5 (GoogleScholar),
• Total number of citations: 83 (Scopus), 57 (Publons), 122 (GoogleScholar).
■ He has participated in the following 13 research projects:
• 6 projects with the public administration.
• 4 projects with private companies (Art. 83).
• 1 project with a private company in the form of equipment loans and consulting.
• 2 projects with private companies in the scholarship student modality.
Finally, he is part of the APERT Research Team, made up of 15 professors (of which 14 are PhDs) from the Department of Electronics Technology of the UPV/EHU, 4 pre-doctoral fellows and 1 contracted researcher. The group has two main lines of research: Power and Control Circuits for Power Converters and Reconfigurable Circuits and Systems-on-Chip. Research activities have led the APERT Research Team to a relevant position that has been recognized by various companies and institutions, which it is worth noting the recognition of the Basque Government as a type A research group twice (since 2016). As a result of all this, the group has achieved its consolidation through the publication of its research results in high-impact journals and prestigious congresses, as well as the achievement of a large number of public projects and the signing of contracts with prestigious companies, which CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research) stands out. Thanks to these results, the research group has been positively valued by the ANEP.
