Current research involves genome editing mediated by spCas9, D10 Nickase for editing of sex determination genes and spermatogenesis related genes for precision guided sterile insect technique. This will greatly improve the area wide management of Oriental fruit fly, Bactrocera dorsalis, Melon fly, B. cucurbitae. Additionally GEd based management of Fall armyworm, Spodoptera frugiperda, tomato leaf miner, Tuta absoluta and diamondback moth, Plutella xylostella are in progress.
