Bio
Brendon J. Woodford was born in Mosgiel, New Zealand, in 1969. He received the B.Sc., PG.Dip.Sci., M.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees in computer science from the University of Otago, New Zealand, in 1993, 1995, 1997, and 2008, respectively.
Since 2016, he has been a Senior Lecturer with the School of Computing, University of Otago. He teaches and researches in the domains of data science, machine learning, and digital health. More recently, he has conducted research into the impact of artificial intelligence technologies on society. His primary research interest includes creating adaptive machine learning systems that generate new knowledge from data that they process and allow for improved decision-making in difficult real-world domains. This work has resulted in 55 publications to date appearing in both highly-ranked journals and international conferences.
Dr. Woodford is a member of the Royal Society of New Zealand, Information Technology Professionals New Zealand, and the IEEE Computer Society.
