Catarina Miranda holds a bachelors degree in Applied Biology from the University of Minho - School of Sciences, Braga (2016). In November 2018, she finished her masters degree in Molecular Genetics at the same university. During her master's thesis, Catarina was involved in the European project VOLATILE (H2020-NMBP-BIO-2016) developed at Centre of Molecular and Environmental Biology (CBMA - Braga), and she exploited the potential of hundreds of yeasts to accumulate intracellular lipids by using innovative and efficient methodologies to measure it. This participation resulted in a scientific article in BMC Microbiology, in which Catarina is the first author. Until now, the outputs of this work gave rise to one conference paper, ten scientific posters, presented both in national and international conferences, and three oral communications in national conferences, one of which Catarina was the first author. In January 2019, Catarina was a Grant holder working as researcher at Universidade Católica Portuguesa Faculty of Biotechnology, being her research work integrated into AQUAVAL project (WaterJPI/0003/2016). The main focus of Catarina's investigation has been based on bioremediation, bioaugmentation, as well as the utilisation of aerobic granular sludge for the treatment of wastewater. Catarina has also collaborated in several scientific dissemination activities related to wastewater treatment at the university. At the moment, Catarina is a PhD student in Biotecnhology at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, with her work related to the exploration of the AGS technology under stress scenarios common on the wastewater treatment near coastal regions, that include the tidal cycles phenomena and the presence of contaminants of emerging concern.
