个人简介
I am an Engineering Director at Facebook. Currently, I work on Facebook's cluster management system called Tupperware (imagine IaaS) and Facebook's distributed system programming framework called Shard Manager (imagine PaaS). In the past, I worked on many different foundational infrastructure systems at Facebook, including ZippyDB (a paxos-based key-value store); configuration management tools that power almost every Facebook system (frontend, backend, and mobile (see our SOSP'15 paper); continuous integration and continuous delivery pipeline that covers most of Facebook backend systems; data publishing and stream processing platform that powers many products; and integrated UI console that manages Facebook backend systems and infrastructure.
Prior to Facebook, I was a computer scientist at IBM T.J. Watson Research Center, where I managed the Cloud Automation Department. My research interests lie broadly in the fields of cloud computing, distributed systems, operating systems, storage systems, computer networks, services computing, and information retrieval. I am a hands-on researcher and spend much of my time on actually building sophisticated real systems of production quality. Much of my research work has been incorporated into advanced commercial products. I have won multiple prestigious IBM awards owing to my contributions to IBM business. In addition to my own research work, I also served IBM's research community as the Watson Chair of the Services Computing PIC, where PIC is IBM's internal counterpart of ACM SIG.
