个人简介
Daniel Nunes is a research scientist in the Planetary Interiors and Geophysics group. He received B.S. degrees in Astronomy and Physics from the University of Kansas, and M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Earth and Planetary Science from Washington University in St. Louis. At JPL, he has been the investigation scientist for the Shallow Radar (SHARAD) radar sounder instrument on the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter and the Radar Imager for Mars' Subsurface Experiment (RIMFAX) ground penetrating radar instrument on the Mars 2020 Perseverance Rover. In these projects his work spanned instrument development, systems science engineering, field testing, operations, and anomaly investigations. His scientific endeavors include mapping the stratigraphy Martian surface to determine the presence of ice/water, analysis of gravity anomalies to determine the origin of volcano-tectonic features on Venus, and modeling crustal deformation to explain the origin of the continentallysized venusian crustal plateaus. He is the Deputy Project Scientist and Co-Investigator for VERITAS.
