The scientific career of Dr. Daniel Fernández-González has been always multidisplinary although turning around three updated topics as the metallurgy-materials, novel processing techniques and the environmental sustainability in the field of materials. Therefore, he has been involved in: the recovery of manganese materials from industrial wastes as anodic lodes and scrapings from zinc electrolysis or ferromanganese industrial residues; the application of concentrated solar energy (CSP) in different processes of metallurgy, materials science and valorization of residues; the reinforcement of ceramic materials (graphite, oxide ceramics, spinels or hard carbides) for different applications using novel synthesis and processing techniques as lasers, spark plasma energy or CSP. Recently, he is involved in the development of novel materials for lithium sulphur batteries. He has expertise on the design, synthesis, and characterization of novel functional and structural ceramic nanocomposites for different applications in metallurgy, heat management, batteries, or defense. He is familiarized with novel sintering techniques as solar furnaces, spark plasma sintering or laser. He has also knowledge about metallurgy, particularly steel and ferrous alloys, where he has written 6 books especially conceived for university courses, which have been accessed >20000 times through SpringerLink. This multidisciplinary and transversal training has been possible thanks to different Spanish fellowships obtained in competitive calls (FPU and Juan de la Cierva Formación) and companies (Ferroatlántica S. A. and Cegasa Portable Energy S. L. U.), as well as to all the projects where he has been involved. He is author of 33 JCR publications (and 6 books: 1 in Spanish and 5 in English by Springer International Publishing), has an h-index of 16, i10 of 22 and 699 citations (Google Academic, 01/2023). Research relevance can be highlighted by both the number of publications in high impact journals (Solar Energy, Ceramics International, Journal of the European Ceramic Society or Journal of Water Process Engineering) and the increase of the research impact with around 200 citations in last two years corresponding to the postdoctoral period. The candidate is corresponding author in 23 articles and first author in 14, which is indicative of the beginning of his independency as researcher as well as his clear involvement in the research projects. He has also made more than 15 contributions to congresses, conferences and seminars and was chairman in an international conference (The 2nd International Conference on Engineering Materials Safety-Environment-Technology (EMSET 2021)). He has participated in 8 competitive research projects (regional, national, and international), as well as in 6 industrial and technical assistant contracts with companies. Moreover, the candidate served as member in a Ph. D. tribunal (March 2022), which can be also considered as an indication of the required scientific maturity to start an independent career. He has also started the co-direction of two Ph. D. thesis of two international students one from México and the other from Perú. He has experience in official teaching (> 200 hours) in subjects of Degree in Engineering of Mining Technologies (Structure and Properties of Materials (laboratory training), Iron and Steelmaking Technologies (laboratory training)) and Master in Mining Engineering (Metallurgical Engineering (laboratory and class training) and Cement and Concrete (laboratory and class training)) and he got the ANECA accreditation the figures of PhD assistant lecturers (Profesor Ayudante Doctor), PhD lecturers (Profesor Contratado Doctor) and Private universities lectures (Profesor de Universidad Privada) in 2019. He acts as reviewer for several scientific journals, and he is serving as guest-editor of 3 special issues: “Advances in Fine and Structural Ceramics for High-Tech Applications” (Materials, Impact Factor, 3.623, Q1: Metallurgy & Metallurgical Engineering), “Advances in Sintering of Ores, Metallic Powders, and Ceramics” (Materials) and “Solar Energy Applications in Materials Science and Metallurgy” (Metals, Impact Factor, 2.351, Q2: Metallurgy & Metallurgical Engineering). He has also been Academic Editor of the book “Production of Engineering Materials” (Ed. I. Gabryelewicz, M. Wedrychowicz, P. Krupa and D. Fernández-González, University of Zielona Gora, 2022, ISBN 978-83-963787-1-2) and he is Academic Editor of other book still ongoing entitled "Copper - From the Mineral to the Final Application” (Intechopen, London) with participation of researchers from different countries. He has started international cooperation with the Universidad Veracruzana, Universidad de Nuevo León, Universidad Panamericana, Centro de Investigación Científica y de Educación Superior de Ensenada (CICESE UFM) (Mexico) and AGH University of Science and Technology (Krakow, Poland) resulted from predoctoral research stays that
