Bio
Dr. Derek J. Hevel received his Doctor of Philosophy from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in Kinesiology and his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science from Illinois State University in Kinesiology.
Dr. Hevel's research focuses on the antecedents and consequences of health behaviors including physical activity, sedentary behaviors, diet, sleep, and oral health behaviors. His work leverages digital technologies to both capture and intervene on health behavior intensively across time. The focus on digital health initiatives has allowed him to identify health inequalities across socioeconomic status, race, ethnicity, gender, and age.
