Dr. Dileep Kumar Gupta received the B.Sc. degree in Electronics from D.B.S (P.G) College Kanpur affiliated to Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj University, Kanpur, India in 2007 and M.Sc. degree in Electronics from University Institute of Engineering and Technology, C.S.J.M University, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India in 2009. He is completed Doctorate degree with the Department of Physics, Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University), Varanasi, India. His thesis entitled on ‘Estimation of crop growth variables and soil moisture by microwave remote sensing using artificial neural networks’. Mr. Gupta also qualified National Eligibility Test (NET) in the subject Electronic Science conducted by the University Grant Commission (UGC), New Delhi and Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineers (GATE) in the subject Electronics and Communication Engineering conducted by Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD).
Dr. Gupta is specialized to the retrieval of soil moisture from the natural soil surface and crop growth variables using Microwave Remote Sensing (Active and Passive) and Artificial Intelligence Techniques like Artificial Neural Network (ANN), Fuzzy logic and Support Vector Machine (SVM). He is an expert for Scatterometer Measurement (Monostatic and Bistatic) and calibration at different polarizations (HH, VV, HV) and frequency band s (X-, C- & L-) for the Natural soil surfaces. He is also an expert for the measurement of crop growth variables (like LAI using LICOR, VWC, biomass, plant height, Chlorophyll content using SPAD) and soil surface parameters (soil moisture using HydraGO or Manual, surface roughness using soil surface profilometer and soil texture). He is an expert for the modeling of microwave interaction with the natural parameters of the earth mainly for crops and bare soil surfaces. Now he is currently working for the development of high-resolution soil moisture algorithms using SMAP, SMOS, ScatSat-1, MODIS satellite data and disaggregation techniques. He is published more than 25 research articles in different reputed journals, conference proceedings, and books. He is the Guest Editor in reputed journal MPDI Sensors with the special issue "Spaceborne Radar Remote Sensing of Agricultural Canopies and Soil Moisture".
