个人简介
Edwin Bergin received the Ph.D. degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, MA, USA, in 1995.
He is currently the Chair of the University of Michigan Department of Astronomy, and a Leading Scientist in the field of theoretical and observational studies of the chemistry and physics in the interstellar medium and the solar system. He has created a theoretical model of the time-dependent chemical interactions in molecular gas. This model has been expanded to examine the physics and chemistry in a variety of environments extending from protoplanetary disks, molecular cores, shocked gas, and cometary coma. Over the past decade he has completed major reviews on protoplanetary disks, the initial stages of star formation, and an exploration of astrobiology from an astronomy perspective. He has also played an important role in a number of observational projects at radio wavelengths, including a Key Member of the Science Team for the NASA Submillimeter Wave Astronomy Satellite, a Principal Investigator of a key program on the Herschel Space Observatory, and a User of Atacama Large Millimeter Array.
