Dr Elhadi Adam’s expertise lies on applications of remote sensing and Geographic information system (GIS) in applied environmental science and precision agriculture. I specialize on vegetation mapping and monitoring. To this end, I am exploring field based, airborne and space borne hyperspectral remote sensors for detecting subtle patterns in vegetation and crops such as biochemical concentration, invasive species mapping, wetland health and herbaceous biomass distribution as well as characterizing landscape heterogeneity. I am currently strengthening this field of research by developing new remote sensing techniques based machine learning algorithms (random forest, support vector machine, boosting trees algorithm ), to mapping vegetation species, detecting and mapping disease infection on plantation forests and agricultural crops as well as quantifying forest fragmentation and its impact on biodiversity and ecosystem services.
