个人简介
I completed my PhD in Primary Care and Health Science / Medical Sociology at Keele University in October 2018. For this I was fortunate enough to be awarded a stipend from Arthritis UK. My study used a combination of ethnographic observational methods and interviews to analyse GP consultations and the patient experience of these consultations with a focus on musculoskeletal conditions and sickness absence management / work-related support.
I am currently a lecturer in Healthcare Sciences for the i3HS hub and in Public Health. I am the course unit lead for Global Women's Public Health and Health Systems Challenges in Low and Middle Income Countries. I also lead on the sociological and public health input into the undergraduate medical degree at Manchester (MBChB).
I am interested broadly in inequalities in health and social care. I have specific interests in global women's health, health systems challenges in low and middle income countries and the intersection of health and social care policy and practice, including patient-practitioner interactions. I am also interested in work-related support services, sickness absence, adult social care and work policy. I have undertaken research examining social class, inequality and austerity and how these areas interact with access to health and social care. I am currently researching how Covid has impacted upon health and social care services from a carer/professional and patient/service user perspective.
I have taught qualitative methodology and critical psychology and sociology at undergraduate and postgraduate level and received my qualitative methodology training from Oxford University.
I am happy to be contacted about potential supervision of PhD / MPhil projects.
