I research Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). Currently my work focuses on helping people make sense of data, from the Internet of Things, from Energy Smart Meters, or from the Web, and on interaction with autonomous systems in everyday situations. Imagine your washing machine turned on automatically when energy comes from renewable sources: exciting or scary? How do we best design interaction around such a scenario? My work lies at the intersection of design and technology and it is influenced by behavioural and social sciences. In my work I design, implement and evaluate novel interactive systems on desktop, mobile and embedded platforms. For more information, please see the research overview page, my projects, or the full list of my academic publications. My research is mostly funded through EPSRC projects, details can be found on the funding page.
