Research Interests:
Broadly speaking, my research focuses on explaining past climate, hydrology, and habitability of planetary bodies through quantitative analysis of sediments and landforms. I also study modern environments on Earth (mostly in the polar regions) that may have existed during the glaciations of ancient Mars and Snowball Earth. My research is interdisciplinary, combining field research with remote sensing and numerical analysis. Examples of my research include: describing the sedimentary environment of modern perennial ice-covered lakes in Antarctica, studying how ice-marginal processes shape alluvial fans in the Arctic, reconstructing ancient environmental rovers on Mars with Curiosity, and mapping sediments in Martian deltas Assessing the presence of past oceans on early Mars.
