Bio
Kory W. Hedman (Senior Member, IEEE) received the first B.S. degree in electrical engineering and the second B.S. degree in economics from the University of Washington, Seattle, WA, USA, the first M.S. degree in electrical engineering and the second M.S. degree in economics from Iowa State University, Ames, IA, USA, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in operations research from the University of California, Berkeley, Berkeley, CA, USA. He is currently the Director of Power Systems Engineering Research Center (PSERC). He was the Program Director of the U.S. Department of Energy Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E). He led the efforts for the Grid Optimization (GO) Competition and the PERFORM Program. In January 2017, U.S. President Barack H. Obama awarded the Kory W. Hedman the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE). He was nominated by the U.S. Department of Energy. Dr. Hedman was also the recipient of the IEEE Power and Energy Society Outstanding Young Engineer Award.
