Ibrahim Beklan Kucukdemiral is a 1993 graduate of Eyuboglu High School, Istanbul, Turkey. Then he received B.Sc., M.S and Ph.D. degrees all from Yildiz Technical University, Department of Electrical Engineering in 1997, 1999 and 2002, respectively. Between, May 1998 – May 2004, he held the Research & Teaching Assistant position in Yildiz Technical University, Department of Electrical Engineering, Division of Control Systems. From 2004 to 2010 he served as an Assistant Professor and from 2010-2015 as an Associate Professor for The Department of Control and Automation Engineering. In 2015 he became a full professor in the same department. In 2017 he became a lecturer in control engineering at the department of Applied Science of Glasgow Caledonian University, UK.
Dr. Kucukdemiral is a member of IFAC Technical Committee on Robust Control, Linear Control Systems, Control Design, Distributed Parameter Systems and Automotive Control. He is also senior member of IEEE and membership secretary of Control Systems Society of UK and Ireland Chapter. He served as an IPC Technical Associate Editor for 19th IFAC, World Congress which took place in Cape Town, S.A in August 2014 and he was the Proceedings Editor of the Joint IFAC Meeting 6th Symposium on System Structure and Control (SSSC2016) and 13th Workshop on Time Delay Systems (TDS2016). He is also the associate editor of Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering & Computer Sciences, a SCI-E journal. He is also a member of the Peer Review College of EPSRC, UK.
General research interests of Ibrahim B. Kucukdemiral lie within the broad domain of robust, optimal and adaptive control systems. His particular focuses are Linear Matrix Inequality (LMI) based analysis and synthesis techniques for uncertain time-delay systems (TDS), Linear Parameter Varying (LPV) Systems, Convex Optimization and its Applications in Control and Gain Scheduling Control. His minor interests include embedded systems, electronics circuits and devices, mechatronics, machine intelligence, digital wireless communication systems, data acquisition measurement and sensor technologies and some automotive applications of control theory.
In addition to teaching graduate courses on System Theory, Optimal Control Theory, Adaptive Control Systems, he frequently teaches undergraduate courses such as Control Systems, Design of Control Systems, Introduction to Multivariable Control Systems, Signals and Systems, Discrete Mathematics, Digital Electronics, Microprocessors, Robot Modeling and Control, Digital Control Systems and Computer Aided Methods in Electronic Circuit Design. He is currently the module leader of Industrial Practice, Industrial Process Systems, a module in the MSc programme on Applied Instrumentation and Control and the undergraduate module Control and Instrumentation Systems for African Leadership College, Mauritius.
