个人简介
I have graduated and obtained my master's degree in biochemistry from the University of Porto (UP) by 2011. In this period, I worked in two research groups - the pharmacology group of Prof. Paulo Correia-de-Sá and the theoretical and computational biochemistry (TCB) group of Prof. Maria J. Ramos, working in three distinct projects: i) bone osteogenesis, ii) new strategies to fight infections, and iii) force field development. I have then pursued my PhD studies in computational biochemistry until 2017 in the PhD program in sustainable chemistry (coordinated by Universities of Porto (UP) and Nova Lisbon). My PhD was developed in the TCB group and was focused on the membrane translocation of drugs and drug-like compounds. I have worked in other fields of research as well, namely in protein:protein (P:P) interactions, protein dynamics, and enzymatic catalysis. During my PhD I was also a young research consultant for a food industry company (PepsiCo®).
As a postdoc, I was involved in a multi-disciplinary research project (NORTE-01-0145-FEDER-000024) to develop new drugs to fight type-II diabetes. Currently I am a junior researcher working on antibiotic resistance. By the end of this period I have acquired a vast scientific curriculum with 30 publications (24 articles, 1 review, 1 Magazine article, 1 proceeding paper, 2 meeting abstracts and 1 book chapter), 16 communications (7 international, 10 oral and 6 posters as first author), and a significant list of collaborations with numerous research groups: 2 Portuguese groups in the fields of bioinorganic chemistry and biophysics - Prof. Maria Rangel (UP) and Prof. Paula Gameiro (UP); and 4 international groups in diversified fields of research - including past works with Prof. Nino Russo (University of Calabria, Italy), Prof. Martin Garcia (University of Kassel, Germany) and Shekhar Patel (Pepsico®, USA), and an ongoing collaboration with Prof. Felipe García (Nanyang Technological University, Singapore).
My scientific skills are highly enriched in computational biochemistry techniques, including molecular dynamics simulations, free energy calculations, enhanced sampling methods, hybrid quantum-mechanics/molecular-mechanics approaches and docking. In addition, my multidisciplinary research efforts are clearly emphasized in the scientific content of my CV. I have also acquired managing experience of research activities, through the writing of scientific and evaluation reports, organization of events (group seminars, national and international conferences), as an international project evaluator, and by mentoring research students (at the master and PhD levels).
