Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center Public Health Sciences Division Director of International Research, Appointed: 2007。 Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center Public Health Sciences Division Cancer Prevention Research Program Co- Program Head, Gastrointestinal Oncology Program, Appointed: 2002。 Research Interests Major interests: The etiology and prevention of cancer, with a particular emphasis on the epidemiology, biology, early detection, and prevention of colon cancer. The role of diet in carcinogenesis; for the last 10 years, I have been paying particular attention to the aspects of diet (and physical activity) that reduce risk - notably plant foods and the many compounds they contain that may act in one way or another to slow or reverse the process of carcinogenesis. The relevant research we undertake involves both epidemiologic studies and clinical trials. The interaction of genes and environment in the etiology of cancer - particularly colorectal cancer. Honors and Awards: 2001, The Donovan J. Thompson Excellence in Faculty Mentoring Award, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center。 2000, DeWitt S. Goodman Lectureship, AACR, in recognition of international leadership in the field of research in nutrition and cancer, and cancer prevention。 2000, The Herbert J.
