个人简介
Because of his attraction to science and personal relationships, Dr. Green is a family physician. He entered academia to help establish family medicine as a discipline. The University of Colorado School of Medicine has been his academic home since 1977. His career was molded by his residency training in Rochester, NY, and practicing in rural Arkansas and Denver in a training practice. His work has emphasized collaborating to develop ideas and systems to operationalize them, such as family medicine residencies, undergraduate programs, practice-based research networks, academic departments, information systems, practice re-design programs, federal agencies, policy research, and professional standards. His career spanned the period in which family medicine successfully emerged from general practice. He remains enthusiastic about the further use of “recently developed” family medicine infrastructures and systems to collaborate with public health and mental health enterprises to contribute to achieving better health care that is affordable and actually improves health.
He is grateful for peer-recognitions for his work such as the Curtis G. Hames Award for Career Accomplishment in Family Medicine Research, The Wood Award for Lifetime Contribution to Primary Care Research, The Thomas W. Johnson Award for recognition and in appreciation of outstanding career contributions to family medicine education, The STFM Advocacy Award for the P4 residency innovation initiative, and election to the Institute of Medicine at the National Academy of Sciences. He has been delightfully surprised by the acknowledgements inherent in the establishment of the endowed Green-Edelman Chair for practice-based research and the Larry A. Green Visiting Scholar Program at the Robert Graham Center in Washington, D.C.
