个人简介
Lígia Fão obtained her Master Degree in Biomedical Engineering with Specialization in Neurosciences, in September 2016, from the University of Coimbra, Portugal. She developed her Master’s thesis at “Mitochondria and Neurodegenerative Disorders” laboratory (current designation) at the CNC-Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology, UC, entitled “Amyloid-beta peptide-evoked Src signalling and redox changes in hippocampal cells” under the supervision of Doctor Ana Cristina Rego and Doctor Sandra Mota. In June 2017, she obtained an investigator fellowship at CNC, and she worked in the project “HEALTHY AGING 2020 - Changes in neurogenesis and mitochondrial function in Alzheimer's and Huntington's disease.” Moreover, in September 2017, she integrated the Doctoral Program in Health Sciences from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra. Currently, Lígia's PhD thesis is focus on Huntington’s Disease (HD). HD is a neurodegenerative disorder with no effective therapies and that share many features with other diseases so she believes that her PhD project will promote a better knowledge regarding HD etiopathogenesis and other related neurodegenerative disorders that share common features.
